that sounds suspiciously like a companion introduction story title.
whenever RTD introduced a companion, the episode title referenced the companion: Rose, Smith and Jones, Partners in Crime. then again the same cannot be said for any of Moffat's stories, so maybe not. |

Wonder why we're being made privy to the title so early in development?

Which is the best magician or magic man;the Doctor or Santa?
Another rivalry between legendary figures, like Robin Hood. And is the Doctor to be "santa's little helper"? |

Definitely sounds like an introduction episode for a new companion too.

If we are getting a new companion, anyone reckon there's any chance of them appearing in the Christmas episode and deciding to join the Doctor at the end of the episode? |

It does but then we've been here before with deliberately misleading titles, e.g. The Next Doctor...

Maybe the doctor is the magician and Clara is his apprentice. So the entire show is about her.

Egypt, 1922
The Doctor and Clara are on a Nile cruise after their exhausting Christmas escapade. Among the passengers is celebrated illusionist, Harry Houdini, who regales his fellow travellers with a magic show. The unimpressed Doctor tries to spoil it for Clara by telling her how each illusion is performed. But Clara is intrigued with the handsome Hungarian-American. When they disembark at Giza, a huge crowd has gathered. They've come to witness Houdini's most sensational escape act yet: He is to be bound, mummified, sealed in a stone sarcophagus and buried under the Pyramid of Cheops. Only the Doctor knows that this will incur the wrath of the powerful Osirians (an alien race who were basis of the ancient Egyptian deities and who built the Pyramids for space and time travel) but his attempt to stop Houdini results in his arrest.... Thats all I know so far. |

Surely the bigger issue is that we know from Moffat at the Death in Heaven screening that 9x01 involves an alien planet...
