Which dance skipped by each couple?
dancingbearbear
19-12-2014
From memory, Mark hasn't done AT, and I don't recall Caroline doing a VW.

Which dances have the other couples skipped?

Simon cha cha cha, because he did it in his Christmas special.

And I don't think Frankie has done the American Smooth.

I might be wrong but I have a feeling Frankie may not have done an AS? Which sounds crazy because it's hardly one they'd avoid as being a bad dance for her but might explain their showdance choice if she actually hasn't done an official AS yet.

Simon I'm pretty sure skipped the cha cha cha, probably because he did it on the Christmas special.

ETA: Beaten to it!

Thanks - I had a feeling it was cha cha for Simon, totally forgot about the Christmas special he'd done!

Do production not decide what dance is done when, so it's not the couple avoiding it but just when it falls.

I would be really disappointed missing a dance, especially one like the American smooth and the Argentine tango, really stand out dances. At least Frankie is kind of doing a smooth in her showdance.

I think in the past the couples did get some choice in what to skip - James was well known as a samba-dodger. Now they aren't allowed to sneeze without the producers saying its ok (and they have to use a giant prop hankie and ensure it's an elaborately themed sneeze, complete with backing sneezers) so I'd assume they get less say these days.

Damn - it's at times like this that I wish Digital Spy had a 'like' button.

That's why we have a Post of the Day thread, and the above post is getting a nomination!

Missing an official American smooth doesn't matter so much, now that 90% of all ballroom routines are Smoothified and out of hold

It's a shame that they don't get to do them all. I'd be gutted if I was a celeb in the final and I hadn't got to do an Argentine Tango. I suppose they could incorporate the one they had missed into their show dance, as Frankie is doing, so at least she can she has pretty much done them all.

Tracy beaker isn't her real name you know.... Lol
Every post I've seen mentioning poor Dani Harmer lately refers to her as TB.

Ps I second the nomination for post of the day - made me giggle so much my boyf thought I'd cracked...

I'm sure Brendan mentioned putting elements of salsa in Sophie's showdance routine last year for that reason.

can you skip the Charleston, or do you have to hop-scotch it?

I think that's becoming pretty regular - Louis' Showdance had bits of Rumba and Argentine Tango, I think Natalie's had a bar or two of Foxtrot and Dani's seemed like a cross between Rumba and Paso Doble.

On ITT tonight Mark said they'd done all the dances now and I thought that didn't sound right.

I preferred it when every couple in the final had done all the basic 10 dances. Think Series 7 was the last time it happened.
