The Krankies (Ian & Janette)

The arrival of grey skies, wind and rain over the last two days has given me an autumny/wintery feeling and led me to check into this year's forum for the first time

The trailer for the Christmas special of Sherlock looks is great and gives me some optimism for this years schedules - I can imagine the BBC using the show as their centrepiece for promoting their shows this year, and it potentially being incorporated into some of the idents (a la Shrek in 2012, or Batman in 1991). Even though it's not a film as such, the Sherlock episodes are of film length and a high quality; also, since it's the BBC footing the bill, I see no reason why they wouldn't have made as much use of the idyllic, snow-covered, Victorian London setting as possible.

My run-up to last year was ruined by a load of financial/personal problems which are now behind me, so I will hopefully join in with the quiz and get my guess in for the cover this year (I can't remember what I thought it'd be but a child-like drawing of a girl holding a cat certainly wasn't it! Haha )

I look forward to the usual mix of debates over scheduling, good and bad cover designs and whether Mrs. Brown's Boys is any good, as well as hearing what everyone is looking forward to - both on the screen and off!

Only (a minimum of) 144 days to go until it's out!

Nice post. I hope you will check in for the quiz. Not long to go until that starts. I will give more details as well as reveal the prize over the coming weeks.

I think that the BBC One Christmas Ident will be based around Victorian London.. Snowball fights and one snowball hits the screen and the BBC logo appears.
just a thought!

Yeah I'm inclined to agree with you - I see little reason for the BBC to go ahead and produce a brand new one, particularly anything more showy than a starry circle on a red background (in the current political climate I don't think they need to give the government and press any more reason to label them as wasteful) BUT I can see the sense in them using the resources available from the Sherlock filming to bank some ident footage, perhaps for years to come. If I were in charge etc etc...

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but they'll be a BBC Agatha Christie Xmas special this year.

It is incredible how quickly the next few months can just fly by. Once my enjoyment of the warmer weather dissipates (around now to be honest - the muggy, clammy air and high pollen count is really getting to me) I start looking forward to cooler air and the changing colour of leaves as autumn creeps in. Before I know it, Halloween and Bonfire Night are a few weeks away and it begins to look a lot like Christmas

I absolutely love Scrooged, one of my favourites. Still haven't seen The Grinch. Seems odd for Film4 to randomly screen two Christmas films back-to-back at that time on a Saturday in July, but not complaining!
