Yes, 28th August. Very disappointing! I hope Selfridges do better. And we only had one day of Christmas in July on QVC this year, when it's normally a two-day extravaganza. I do miss Musical Christmas World which ran for several years with Mr Chistmas products.

Fear not! My quiz starts before Harrods Christmas does!

QVC was very disappointing last night. Nothing Christmassey all evening.

YES!! I'm really looking forward to your quiz. Exciting! And I agree about QVC, it all felt a bit half-hearted this year. Not as Christmassy as usual.

Perhaps I'm getting old but anything Christmassey is making me prone to say "Oh God! It's Only July!" rather than "Ooooh! Christmas! How exciting!". The magic seems to be dwindling somewhat each year.

Claires_dad's brilliant website cheers me up no end though and I am determined to hold on to the magic for as many years as I can.

For fun (and a bit of sadness and "must get a life"), I devised my first Christmas Eve schedule this year for BBC1:

3.40 Film: Puss in Boots
5.00 Professor Branestawm
6.00 BBC News, Regional News
6.30 Esio Trot
8.00 Doctor Who
9.00 EastEnders
9.30 Film Premiere: Mrs. Browns Boys D'Movie
11.05 Not Going Out (rpt)
11.35 BBC News

4.40 Shaun the Sheep - The Farmer's Llamas

5.20 Strictly Come Dancing
6.30 Doctor Who
7.30 Sherlock
9.00 EastEnders
10.00 Mrs Brown's Boys
10.30 John Bishop
11.20 News
11.30 On Christmas Night
11.35 Film TBA

Hopefully Car Share will be shown at 10pm moving the other shows back by 30mins

sorry wizzy but that is a weak schedule full of repeats - doubt Doctor will be on Christmas Eve Radio Times would have a hissy fit and I think if Mrs Brown;s D;Movie ison then it will be shown New year's Day because there is no Match of The Day on New Year;s Day this time round

Marke09, last Christmas Eve was dire on BBC1! The schedule I devised includes the new Professor Branestawm as it has been hinted a new one is coming - but at a more suitable 5pm timeslot. The "Esio Trot" showing would be equivalent to a movie repeat such as Toy Story 2 last year which means "Not Going Out" would be the only effective repeat.

You could be right about Mrs. Browns Boys Movie but I have a hunch it'll be be on Christmas Eve as it preceeds this year's Christmas Specials.

The reason I put Doctor Who on Christmas Eve is because I can't see how Sherlock, Call The Midwife and Doctor Who can be shown on Christmas Day alongside EastEnders. I know every year we get the "Call The Midwife" shouldn't be on Christmas Day comments, but the BBC like having it there, although, they may sacrifice it somewhat this year to give Sherlock the slot so that Sherlock begins way before Downton Abbey's last ever episode. I might do the full schedule later - just for fun. It's raining, there's nowt on telly and I've done all the housework! I'm having a real lazy day!

With Sunday being only 48 hours after Christmas Day Call the Midwife's new series can begin with the Christmas special on the Sunday

Here's a question for you all - who would you like to see doing the New Year's Eve concert this year (if we get one)

I would like to see Annie Lennox - but she wouldn't be lively (or appealing) enough. A good point by the way, regarding Call The Midwife.

Exact same feeling. Christmas build up has been terrible the last load of years. I always book holidays from the 18th/19th and you rarely see decnt daytime tv ''xmas specials' or films until the 23rd or so.
