The Radio Times Quiz Information

Wow! It is now 1st August. It seems like just a few weeks since we had Christmas! It doesn't seem too long since we were guessing what the 2014 RT cover would be! Yet, here we are. Next month is September and the start of Autumn, the race towards Christmas begins!

In three weeks time on Sunday August 23rd, this years 8 week RT Quiz will begin. To enter, all you need do is answer the questions via personal message to myself and each week the scores are added and carried forward to the next week. At the end of the 8 weeks, the person with the most overall points, wins.

What will the Winner Win?

This year the prize is, via Vistaprint, a desk calendar. Each month there is a different photograph of a RT cover of old - including 4 classic Christmas covers.

So, I hope to see as many regulars as possible this year. Remember the date:

August 23rd.

I don’t know when they start, but you could always get a Christmas cooking fix by watching something truly frightening: Fanny Cradock Cooks for Christmas! All the episodes are available on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...for+christmas+

If you have not witnessed ‘Madam’ cooking - and shouting at her assistant - you are in for a treat. Mincemeat omelette anyone?

I am without Sky and that means no Christmas 24 this year, does anyone know if True Christmas will take over True Movies 1 again this year? If so, will it be October or November?

Last year True Christmas started on the 16th of October. I think they will probably do the same this year, around the middle/end of October.
Mind you the True Movies and True Entertainment channels seem to show a lot of their Christmas films throughout the year.

Well he's in Alastair Sim's Christmas Carol/Scrooge, which would maybe sit well in a George Cole night.

Or we might see this at some point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1fIubz7tZs

Can you answer 87 questions about festive film, TV and showbiz? Do you want to be the RT Quiz Winner 2015?

From Sunday August 23rd, I will run an 8 week quiz where questions will be asked and all you need to do is answer them!

The great news is that virtually all the answers can be found on claires_dad's fabulous website so you are all in with a good shout of winning!

http://ukchristmastv.weebly.com/

As a teaser to what is to come, I am now posting the very first question of this year's quiz.

PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION EITHER VIA PM BUT ESPECIALLY PUBLICLY. All answers can be given to me via PM once the Quiz starts, this is intended as a bit of fun to whet your appetites and to maybe check out the website above to give you a head start to find the answer.

Next week, a second question from week 1 will be posted.

So, here goes: the very first question:

Which former BBC star received a debut ITV Christmas Special in 1979?

Enjoy researching!
