There are now 17 entrants into the quiz. There can be only one winner! But, it will go down to the final week as it is still close and anyone who has 50 points or more tomorrow can still win! There are still 25 points to play for. I do however, hope you, along with everyone else. have enjoyed taking part. It has meant a great deal to me that more than twice the number of people who entered last year have taken part this year.

I guess you lot are cleverer than ever I could anticipate! Next year I am determined to make things a little harder! Bravo though, I am usually rubbish at anagrams and would have struggled.

Here are the answers (as if you need them!):

1. Sand Sole for Holy Son - Only Fools and Horses
2. We were both sham comedians - The Morecambe and Wise Show
3. So rotten creation - Coronation Street
4. Briefly video chat - The Vicar of Dibley
5. Contract medics lying - Strictly Come Dancing
6. Somewhere beauty offer - Before they Were Famous
7. Snoring bold nun - London's Burning
8. Infamous wrestle them - Last of the Summer Wine
9. Abomination swallow either - Who Wants to be a Millionaire
10. Internet homage age - The Generation Game

Your Scores

Essexgaz, cheers for at least having a go. The one you attempted was right so it gives you a point at least.

The Sweeny, sorry to hear the computer drove you to sleep! It can have that affect, but the 8 you attempted again were all correct, so 8 points to you.

The rest of you, wow! You are all clever clogs! 10 points to all!

(altally, Billy_Value, Johnjuan, nd, RG101, marke09, pembo2004, Allan, smokeycat, davads and claires_dad).

Welcome to Billy_Value and Johnjuan.

Your running scores will appear under Week 7's Questions. Thanks for taking part.

MOVIE SPECIAL

All questions this week are about movies that were all shown on BBCtv over Christmas between 1969 and 2014. Some are obvious, some are not so.

Firstly, as always, the Rules:

Spoiler
1) I will accept your first Personal Message to myself as your definitive entry for that week. Any further attempts to answer for any individual week will not be considered.

2) Points will be simplified this year. You get one point for each correct answer. Simple. All points are carried forward to the following week to form a running total. The person with the most overall points at the end of the 8 week run, wins.

3) In the event of two or more people getting the exact amount of points at the end, I will post three tie-break questions. These questions will appear on Sunday 18th October (the day the quiz finishes) until 5pm. The first person to post their correct answers publicly wins!

4) The prize: The prize is a glossy desk calendar. Each month is a different photo of a classic Radio Times cover. There are four classic Christmas covers featured. In addition to this is a copy of a non-Christmas Radio Times from the late 70's or early 80's.

The runner up will also win a copy of a non-Christmas Radio Times from the late 70's or early 80's.

Remember: PLEASE GIVE YOUR ANSWERS BY GIVING ME A PERSONAL MESSAGE. This is a quiz anyone can enter so obviously, the answers need to be kept out of public view until the next week's questions launch.

5) Each week the quiz will close at midnight every Saturday night. New batch of questions will appear anytime between 00.01 and 12.00pm on the Sunday. No entry will be accepted after midnight Saturday.

The Questions:

1. What year did the musical "Oliver!" receive its Christmas Day premiere?

2. The rather cheeky line "Well, tickle my tits 'til Friday" is from which British comedy romance?

3. "The Front Page" was just one movie that aired as part of a season featuring this actor on BBC2 at Christmas 1981. Who was the actor?

4. A foreign language film about a raven wearing a bell that linked stories together, premiered on BBC2 in 1984. What was the name of the film?

5. "White Christmas" is a loose remake of which festive movie also starring Bing Crosby?

6. Which low budget crime thriller premiered, virtually unnoticed, on Christmas Day 1981?

7. Which remake of a classic, this time starring Piers Brosnan, got an airing on Christmas Day 2003?

8. Which Jodie Foster/Richard Gere costume drama received its Network premiere on Boxing Day 1996?

9. How many times since its 1978 premiere, has "The Sound of Music" aired on BBCtv on Christmas Day itself?

10. Which film that was originally intended as the Christmas afternoon 1985 film on BBC1, was replaced (due to Michael Grade considering it too violent for that slot) with the Children's Royal Variety Performance when the schedules were finalised and confirmed?

As it's the penultimate week, I'm afraid I can't offer any help.

For fans of cheesy and saccharine enriched US festive TV movies ( like me), just to let you know that on 9th October, True Movies 1 becomes True Christmas. Enjoy!

An interesting fact regarding this year's Countdown thread. It is more popular than last years! This same week the thread was on page 19 and on post 463 last year.

Look at the difference: this year we're on page 26 and already well exceeded 600 posts!
