AMENDMENT

A couple of posters have rightly asked for clarification regarding Question 3. "The Front Page" did infact premiere in 1980 and was part of a season of films featuring another actor, Walter Matthau. Therefore, to avoid further confusion, I have altered the name of the film as your clue to question 3 so that you can provide the correct answer more easily.

So, here are all the questions again with the new clue included. Sorry for any confusion.

The Questions:

1. What year did the musical "Oliver!" receive its Christmas Day premiere?

2. The rather cheeky line "Well, tickle my tits 'til Friday" is from which British comedy romance?

3. "Save the Tiger" was just one movie that aired as part of a season featuring this actor on BBC2 at Christmas 1981. Who was the actor?

4. A foreign language film about a raven wearing a bell that linked stories together, premiered on BBC2 in 1984. What was the name of the film?

5. "White Christmas" is a loose remake of which festive movie also starring Bing Crosby?

6. Which low budget crime thriller premiered, virtually unnoticed, on Christmas Day 1981?

7. Which remake of a classic, this time starring Piers Brosnan, got an airing on Christmas Day 2003?

8. Which Jodie Foster/Richard Gere costume drama received its Network premiere on Boxing Day 1996?

9. How many times since its 1978 premiere, has "The Sound of Music" aired on BBCtv on Christmas Day itself?

10. Which film that was originally intended as the Christmas afternoon 1985 film on BBC1, was replaced (due to Michael Grade considering it too violent for that slot) with the Children's Royal Variety Performance when the schedules were finalised and confirmed?

Sorry guys!

Next year's thread will be the NINTH year so we will have to think of something special for the tenth one in 2017

Well, we could try and organise a real life convention and arrange to meet up during the summer of 2017? Sometimes it's quite nice to actually put a real face to the people you've come to know - albeit through cyberspace - over the years.

Alternatively, we could launch a competition next Summer to seek ideas as to how to commemorate the 10th year!

Heard it also on GMB this morning personally I think it would be a mistake.

You would have 70 something Michael Crawford and Michelle Dotrice.

I guess you could have there daughter Jessica, maybe as the complete opposite.

Home they schedule this one better as it shouldn't have been anywhere near primetime.

It was only going to be a hypothetical point! But yes, you should get a mention for bringing attention to the 50th Double Issue.

Yes, teatime Christmas Eve or Holiday Monday would be good - not 8.30pm during primetime Christmas Eve.

I'm going to see a recording of Bruce's Hall of Fame this weekend which I assume will be for Christmas transmission; the first one went out last Christmas.

From what we are being led to believe at least BBC One is trying its best to be original this Christmas with all the one offs specials it has commissioned but you can bet your bottom dollar that come early December when the schedules are confirmed there will be the normal "There's nothing on Telly this Christmas or its all repeats"

Let's play "DS Christmas Telly Bingo".

We have to spot the following phrases from posters who say the thing every year. Once you've spotted them call Bingo! and the first player to spot all of them and shout "House!" wins!

Here are the phrases:

EastEnders should be split into two half hour episodes this year.

The schedules are the same every year.

Call The Midwife should not be on Christmas Day.

There's nothing I want to watch, it is a bad line up this year.

It's all repeats.

Who wants to play? If anyone can think of anymore, feel free to add!
