Let's play "DS Christmas Telly Bingo".

We have to spot the following phrases from posters who say the thing every year. Once you've spotted them call Bingo! and the first player to spot all of them and shout "House!" wins!

Here are the phrases:

EastEnders should be split into two half hour episodes this year.

The schedules are the same every year.

Call The Midwife should not be on Christmas Day.

There's nothing I want to watch, it is a bad line up this year.

It's all repeats.

Who wants to play? If anyone can think of anymore, feel free to add!
I'll play.
I think "Christmas telly was so much better when I was a kid" is bound to rear it's head at some point too.

I really don't like this series. It is a bit too idiotic for me and all the characters are loathsome. Modern sitcoms just dont resonate with the audience.

I'm going to see a recording of Bruce's Hall of Fame this weekend which I assume will be for Christmas transmission; the first one went out last Christmas.
Bruce Forsyth has had a fall at home and has told he should rest for a week, he's pulled out of the recording of this and will be replaced by Alexander Armstrong according to BBC Breakfast.

Been that way for days. Was flicking through the Sky Movies channels and chanced upon True Christmas a number of days ago. Besides, there's no movies on that channel worth a watch anway, they must be all B movies.

The films on on True Christmas are mainly TV Movies created to show when the US broadcasters end their seasons of shows in December. December TV in the US is dire, repeats, TV Christmas movies and movie classics like "It's a Wonderful Life".

The UK do make Christmas TV dramas but they tend not to be full of OTT sentiment and saccharine. The movie in dustry in the UK has made Arthur Christmas and the three "Nativity!" comedies. Top notch festive TV dramas include "Lapland", "Christmas Lights", "The Greatest Store in the World", the absolutely brilliant "Flint Street Nativity", "Lost Christmas", "Last Christmas" "The Snowman".

The penultimate week of the quiz closes in just two hours. The final begins tomorrow, and it's a toughie! 15 questions and the result has just got serious! It is literally up in the air, we have joint leaders and one that could still walk away with the prize with just 1 point in it!

Get your answers in by midnight, you could make a huge difference to the scores!

THE FINAL!

1) I will accept your first Personal Message to myself as your definitive entry for that week. Any further attempts to answer for any individual week will not be considered.

2) Points will be simplified this year. You get one point for each correct answer. Simple. All points are carried forward to the following week to form a running total. The person with the most overall points at the end of the 8 week run, wins.

3) In the event of two or more people getting the exact amount of points at the end, I will post three tie-break questions. These questions will appear on Sunday 18th October (the day the quiz finishes) until 9pm. The first person to post their correct answers publicly wins! The winner of this year's quiz will be announced by midnight on Sunday October 18th.

4) The prize: The prize is a glossy desk calendar. Each month is a different photo of a classic Radio Times cover. There are four classic Christmas covers featured. In addition to this is a copy of a non-Christmas Radio Times from the late 70's or early 80's.

The runner up will also win a copy of a non-Christmas Radio Times from the late 70's or early 80's.

Remember: PLEASE GIVE YOUR ANSWERS BY GIVING ME A PERSONAL MESSAGE. This is a quiz anyone can enter so obviously, the answers need to be kept out of public view until the next week's questions launch.

5) The quiz will close at midnight on Saturday October 17th. No entry will be accepted after midnight Saturday.

THE FINAL QUESTIONS:

1. In the 1982 Christmas RT, there is an article titled "Visitors from the Past". Which children's ghost story that aired during Christmas that year, is it referring to?

2. In the 2011 issue, who was the subject of the RT Interview and declared "I need a drink and more chemicals"?

3. Which fictional character did Marc Warren sink his teeth into in this new adaptation of a classic story during Christmas 2006?

4. In the 1996 edition, Joanna Lumley reveals her pet hate at Christmas. What is it?

5. Where did Channel 4 Racing come from on Boxing Day 1997?

6. On Christmas Day 1992, Channel 4 aired a family film about a little boy who didn't see the point of going to school. What was the name of the film?

7. Which rather hard hitting Cambodian based British film about an American journalist, premiered during Christmas 1987 on BBC2?

8. "Songs for Young Lovers" is an article in the 1985 Christmas RT about which popular 80's British singer?

9. Which classic movie rounded off BBC1's Christmas night schedule in 1984?

10. According to the 1986 Christmas issue, who was "The greatest showman on earth"?

11. Who played Elgar's Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op85 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for BBC2 in 1987?

12. Which science fiction Dennis Quaid adventure movie received its Network Premiere on BBC1 on the Saturday before Christmas in 1990?

13. Also starring Dennis Quaid, the next night, BBC2 premiered which thriller directed by Jim McBride?

14. What was the title of the Boxing Day 1991 episode of ITV's Ruth Rendall Mystery?

15. Who was having an all day breakfast on Christmas Day 1992?

Thought I would finish with an easy one!

There you guys, your very last batch of questions for this year! Good luck.

I seem to be making little mistakes, either I can't write things down properly, read my own writing or I'm just getting old, but anyway, I have made an error with question 4. The year in question 4 should be about information in the 1998 edition, not the 1996. As is now tedious, and customary, I will now repost again all questions with the correct year included in question 4.

1. In the 1982 Christmas RT, there is an article titled "Visitors from the Past". Which children's ghost story that aired during Christmas that year, is it referring to?

2. In the 2011 issue, who was the subject of the RT Interview and declared "I need a drink and more chemicals"?

Well, I'd like to have given you a potted review of this show but unfortunately we were turned away as it was full! This despite turning up at the theatre about two and a half hours early Apparently there were mad people turning up at 9:00am - and that's without Brucie being in it...

Can't help thinking the internet's a curse these days for recordings getting so oversubscribed, it's not the first time it's happened to us Should have known when Sir Bruce had his tumble the other day that it just wasn't meant to be. Ah well! Anyway sorry for going off topic a little.

Ah I'm sorry, I hate it when they do that. I understand they want a full house but they should just have tickets only, seems very unfair.

Looks like Alan Davies' show on Dave "As Yet Untitled" is getting a Christmas Special following this tweet from UKTV Press Centre :

"We didn't know @JasonManford was so against Christmas Dinner. His 5 minute rant on #AsYetUntitled Festive Special Recording is AMAZING."

Earlier in the thread I said that seeing as SPOTY was on Sunday December 20 then the Apprentice Final would probably not be - but looking at the 2010 issue last night the two were shown on the same night that year with SPOTY at 7 and The Apprentice at 9
