Is there any chance they would do Saturday 24th December - Friday 6th January?

I'm sure they would, I'm sure it's gone up to at least the 5th in the odd year.

The 6th is probably the latest they'd ever go, since in years when Christmas Day/New Year's Day is a Saturday I'm sure they've done a 15-day issue going from Sat 18th-Sat 1st (and then duplicated the 1st in the next regular, single-week issue) #incrediblyanalpost

They have done a 15 day issue before including January 1 but last time it was queried why they cant do it now the answer was that January 1 would be a Saturday so the start of a new week and therefore the schedules for that week would be too late to include in the Christmas double issue
I for one would not mind waiting an extra week for the double issue if it had New Year holiday listings but its also seen as a money making exercise for the magazines as you have to buy a double and a single issue |

I actually don't mind the way it's done. What happens when Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, they'd have to start the double issue on Christmas Day to get New Year's Day in as well!

I'm sure the schedule for Jan 1 2000 was fairly typical of those days.
BBC1 you had 2000 Today, including Live & Kicking. ITV you had Children's shows including SMTV. And wouldn't have taken long to work out |

Look on the bright side the way the calendar works we only miss One Christmas and New Year Double issue rather than two consecutive years like we normally do

1995's a mighty odd one. Wonder why they didn't do 23rd-5th, like 2001?

They also did 16-29 December in 1972. (not 15-29th as I originally put!)

Mind you, the way we celebrate Christmas now is different. Idents last for three weeks and not three days, people are off work for the duration and not just three days and it seems to be a more illustrious affair than twenty years ago. I doubt they would have a 16th - 29th issue again. |
