Another music channel goes all Christmas from Sunday - Heart TV

I can't wait for both Bliss and Heart to start having Christmas music on Sunday. Both channels start showing xmas videos from 6am so I think I'll be getting up to watch the first few songs (like I did the last couple of years). Last year's first Blissmass Christmas video was Paul McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime'

Do todays pop bands /stars release Christmas songs? doesnt seem to be many new songs that we will be singing year in year out like the 60s and 90s - have you got a recent (last 5 years) Christmas favourite song

It's become popular for the more established artists to release a Christmas album.

People like Michael Buble, Kelly Clarkson have had great success with theirs and I believe both Kylie and Katy Perry are doing them for release this year.

As The X Factor has more or less claimed victory every year in the xmas no.1 stakes, the major pop acts of the last 10-15 years have either thought why bother or were signed to SYCo and as a result, probably wouldn't be allowed one. With X Factor suffering a slow death atm, there could be a big festive pop hit in the next few years.

For reference, Kelly Clarkson's Underneath the Tree is a personal fave for me.

Pop quiz: Excluding Band Aid 20 in 2004, what was the last Christmas number one song that was actually Christmas-related? Without Googling

With the charts now being released on Fridays we won't officially know the Christmas number one until Christmas Day itself.

Blimey, is that how early the music channels start showing Christmas songs now. I'm sure it wasn't until December 1st back in 2005

First song last year on Blissmass was Jona Lewie - 'Stop the Cavalry'.
Followed by Frankie goes to Hollywood - 'The Power of Love' and Shakin Stevens - 'Merry Christmas Everyone'.

Aww, too easy I do find it an interesting little bit of "triv", though.

No, it won't - they'll just show the video of the No1 (as they did in 1994, 2005 and 2011, the last three times when Christmas Day fell on a Sunday).

This is my guess the cover entry; A traditional nativity scene with the baby Jesus, Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Shepherds and the 3 wise men.

TOTP will probably be recorded on Mon 21st Dec.

My Guess for The Christmas Cover competition is A Robin in A Snow filled scene. I think that would also make a great cover if i am correct, Especially as the Robin was voted Britain s favourite bird this year.

Blissmass is back...
First song played was Slade 'Merry Christmas Everybody.'
Followed by Shakin Stevens 'Merry Christmas Everyone' and then Band Aid 20 'Do they know it's Christmas.'
With this mild weather we are having, it's a bit strange listening to Christmas songs this early.

RT COVER PREDICTION:

The characters from ''Stickman' in a festive scene (Santa makes an appearance somewhere!)

Yippee!! The Cover Competition is open. Seems it is now less than four weeks until some areas get their RT Christmas issue, Blimey! It is really hard to believe isn't it?

Anyway, here's my entry for the cover comp:

I envisage this:

A knitted effect. Either in the form of a traditional knitted jumper with snowflakes or snowman or a traditional scene. But, whatever the cover reveals itself to be it will appear to have the look that it has been created by knitting with wool.

Ok here goes then
The Cover will be Shaun the sheep based on the new episode "The Farmers Lama"
Featuring Shaun and the rest of the flock, Bitzer the dog the Farmer and a lama gathered round a Christmas tree with snow in the background

Are we supposed to be posting our guesses here, or should they be sent to Claires_dad by PM?

You post your idea publicly and claires_dad updates them periodically. Because there are no "right" answers to reveal and just hypothesis and speculation, there's no need to enter privately - unlike the Quiz where if one person posts the correct answers publicly then ultimately there'd be no point in anyone else entering!

Hope this helps. Is this your first "Cover Competition"? If so you'll love it! Some of the ideas are so good you wonder why RT didn't use them!

My guess is a Santa theme, similar to 1991, 1995, and 1997.
