Apparently there will be no new series of MBB so the Christmas specials will be that - special

Hi Wizzy, just had a thought prompted by the last post from BATFINK:- What if MBB's goes the same way as TRF? Surely the BEEB don't want another public humilition like that. I'd also hate to think that the next 6 years wouldn't produce some quality comedy that's actually worthy of the slot.
Finally, with this in mind and as ever, hoping to provoke debate:- A Marmite Moment. Try 'Count Arthur Strong' from Tuesday 6th Jan, Tuesdays 10:35pm on BBC1

very odd scheduling there for Count Arthur 10.35 on a Tuesday night - surely iof BBC One are going to nick BBC Two's programmes at least give them the same or a better slot

In an interview, Brendan said that he has some great ideas for Mrs brown but is yet to decide whether to put these ideas into a 4th series or another film. He is also in talks with the BBC about a spin off series to feature Rory's hair salon.

I would be interested to hear forum opinions on showing a special episode of, for example, Foyle's War, Broadchurch, Silent Witness, Luther, etc to replace the 'Big Film' spot of yesteryear before video/DVD release, as the main entertainment for Christmas Night. Appreciate that BBC could play the Sherlock card this Christmas. I think the Golden Age of Christmas TV has gone, regrettably?

delighted to see this thread!

anyone have any idea if they are planning to do a royle family christmas special this year? i know caroline aherne has been unwell but was hoping she'd made a recovery.

i was disappointed with the christmas eve schedule this year, hoping for much better in 2015.

I'm pretty sure the writers have said they don't want to write any more Royle Family

Did anyone try the Big Picture Quiz in the 2014 edition? closing date is 13th

Wondering if anybody would like me to post the answers when they are published in a couple of weeks?

What's on TV has a new look next week, and they've introduced an extra 2 pages per day, meaning multi channels now have 6 pages.

The main digital channels now have a full sized column each, with the other digital channels also having more space meaning it isn't just a list of titles in a tiny font squashed in.

They've dropped the listings for children's channels, and a few minor channels.

A nice improvement and something the RT used to do, they've introduced pictures of each channel's logo at the top of the column.

I've never seen such detailed listings in the budget sector. The magazine costs 2p more than it did before Christmas and there are 12 extra pages in total.

Wizzy thanks for that - a lot of thought put into it!

I wonder if this is in response to TV Choice revamping before Christmas? TV Choice revamped along similar lines - expanding listings content and including logos at the top! I always bought WOTV up until I got the £1 for 12 issues offer of the RT (which covered the Christmas Double issue!) - due to end soon so will probably go back to WOTV.

Off the top of your head, do you recall or see what minor channels they've dropped? Also, are they now including Movies4Men, CBS Action and/or Trutv? - all 3 weren't in it before, and the 1st 2 appear in very few mags.

Anyway thanks for the heads up - much appreciated.

My prediction of the BBC2's schedule of The Star Wars Saga looks like this when ITV no longer have the rights due to Lucasfilm being owned by Disney (as of October 30th 2012):

Christmas Eve:
5.15pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)

Christmas Day:
3.10pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

Boxing Day:
8.30pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Wednesday 30th December:
6.15pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

New Years Eve:
7.45pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

New Years Day 2016:
6.00pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Saturday 2nd January 2016:
1.15pm - Film Premiere: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)

we dont normally mention SKY programmes for Christmas but this one has been announced

A version of Raymond Briggs’ well-loved story Fungus the Bogeyman is primed to challenge the BBC’s Christmas dominance at the end of this year.

Well I do hope it’s better than the dreadful Hogfather that Sky broadcast in 2006. I thought it was a corruption of, and an affront to, Christmas. The stuff of nightmares no less!

Bumping this thread because it had slipped to page 8! And, Una Stubbs on The One Show has confirmed that Sherlock has finished filming its Christmas Special and that it will be shown at Christmas and there is a very Christmassey scene.

Plus, I know it's only a week until March, but there are just 307 sleeps until Christmas and much less until my Christmas RT Quiz begins in August!
