Good to be back. Thanks again to Claire's dad for the now traditional competition

Think we may possibly see another special commission this year like we saw with last years Judith Kerr cover. I wouldn't be surprised to see a stick man related cover but that's already been taken so I'll go for:

My guess: Santa and his reindeer classic scene

Funny you should say that because I do know that they are aware of this thread as I had a conversation with them on twitter last year ( not about the Christmas cover) but about the daytime listings!

What did they say about daytime listings? They were right and their readers were wrong?

Lol! I knew it! I always despair when the BBC, via outlets like Newswatch or Points of View wheel out the BBC execs to answer complaints and they always say "we are totally right, your viewers, bless their simple minds, don't know what they're on about!"

Dipped my toe in last night but nothing. It just didn't feel right. Think it will another 5 or 6 weeks before I start to get a buzz

Can I please be so bold as to draw your attention to post number 27 which I made in Dec 14:- No Christmas Day Sherlock

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I might be the first and last with the following prediction but I do not think Sherlock will air on Christmas Day. My Guess is that it will first air on New Years Day 2016, if not, then possibly Sunday 27th Dec '15 at 9:00pm with following episodes airing on Sundays 9;00pm
Oh, and as mentioned early in 2014 - he's already nailed on to the Christmas Cover

So far we have :

Anthony_Ryan : A traditional nativity scene with the baby Jesus, Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Shepherds and the 3 wise men.

BadSignal : A Robin in A Snow filled scene

Only_You : The characters from ''Stickman' in a festive scene (Santa makes an appearance somewhere!)

wizzywick : A knitted effect. Either in the form of a traditional knitted jumper with snowflakes or snowman or a traditional scene. But, whatever the cover reveals itself to be it will appear to have the look that it has been created by knitting with wool

judomole : The Cover will be Shaun the sheep based on the new episode "The Farmers Lama"
Featuring Shaun and the rest of the flock, Bitzer the dog the Farmer and a lama gathered round a Christmas tree with snow in the background

altally : My guess is a Santa theme, similar to 1991, 1995, and 1997

marke09 : A Shaun the Sheep special from Aardman -
The farmer will be dressed as Santa handing out presents to Bitzer and Shaun, with Timmy dressed as an elf
In thebackground will be the rest of the sheep trying to decorate a Christmas tree but a string of lights will be around the biggest sheep -
the pigs will be dressed as the three wise men.
Also in the background will be the farmhouse with Santa's reindeer and sleigh on the roof and Santas wellies sticking out from the chimney pot.

It will also be an interactive cover so when you use an app it will have Shaun bleating MERRRRRY Christmas

Ian_Stevens : Cover to incorporate Sherlock and the Tardis to publicise both shows with a "Christmasy" background

pedrok : A traditional snowy village scene.

StuL42 : Santa, with sack of gifts, putting gifts under a Christmas tree

smokeycat : a big Christmas pudding, maybe with a robin

Claires_dad : a Sherlock cover with Sherlock Holmes and Watson in a snowy Victorian London

Aaron_Cardwell I think we will see a traditional cover comprising of a snowman and a robin will be perched on his twig arm. With Santa 'whooshing' off above the night sky

If I've missed anyone off please let me know!”

Beat me to it CD. But if acceptable I'll go with Sherlock, Watson and a cheerful looking Una Stubbs loitering in the Victorian background

I'm also going to go Sherlock Holmes related: Specifically a close up of the door of 221B Baker Street with a Christmas Wreath containing small Sherlock related items.

Firstly, the BBC hasn't owned the RT for years. Try to keep up.

Secondary, I remember you saying previously you don't even buy the RT. So how does it affect you exactly?

Thirdly, have you done any scientific research or do your think your opinion is that important they should react imemdiately and make changes? I happen to think that RT has this one right - the daytime is full of crap programmes and, rightly so, the majority of the listings are reserved for the evenings which have the highest reach.

There is a few things I would change about RT. This is not one of them. And I buy the RT week in, week out throughout the year. There is nothing to compare to in overal in terms of quality.

Wizzywick is fully aware that the RT hasn't been owned by the BBC for years!

He was just making out the point that sometimes people (such as the BBC) believe they are right when some of their customers disagree.

Hi all,

First of all I would like to say this is my first ever post on here, I have been keeping an eye on it from a far the last few years but thought I would try join in the fun this year, I have always loved the Double Edition of the Christmas Radio times ever since I can remember reading my first one which I think was back in 1983 (I was born on 1977) and I know when I see it in the shops that Christmas is certainly on it's way, I still get giddy waiting with excitement for it to be released, anyway, enough of my ranting, here is my guess for the RT Christmas cover 2015;

A small child peering through the window of an old Victorian shop with lots of toys inside.

Looking forward to reading other people's guesses and I will always read this wonderful thread on the forum,

Aaron.

Hello again,

A bit off topic I know but can anybody remember a radio show that was broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 on Christmas Day 1994 ?, it was called Live - On A Caribbean Christmas and was totaly live from the studios both in London and Jamaica featuring guests such as Ali Campbell from UB40, Aswad, & Chaka Demus & Pliers, I taped this show all those years ago but a few years back my cassette tape chewed up and have been looking for this show ever since but with no success, can anybody remember it?.

Guess the Christmas RT Cover Competition : Entries so far

1) Anthony_Ryan : A traditional nativity scene with the baby Jesus, Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Shepherds and the 3 wise men.

2) BadSignal : A Robin in A Snow filled scene

3) Only_You : The characters from ''Stickman' in a festive scene (Santa makes an appearance somewhere!)

4) wizzywick : A knitted effect. Either in the form of a traditional knitted jumper
with snowflakes or snowman or a traditional scene. But, whatever the cover reveals itself to be it will appear to have the look that it has been created by knitting with wool

5) judomole : The Cover will be Shaun the sheep based on the new episode "The Farmers Lama"
Featuring Shaun and the rest of the flock, Bitzer the dog the Farmer and a lama gathered round a Christmas tree with snow in the background

6) altally : My guess is a Santa theme, similar to 1991, 1995, and 1997

7) marke09 : A Shaun the Sheep special from Aardman -
The farmer will be dressed as Santa handing out presents to Bitzer and Shaun, with Timmy dressed as an elf
In thebackground will be the rest of the sheep trying to decorate a Christmas tree but a string of lights will be around the biggest sheep -

13) Aaron_Cardwell : I think we will see a traditional cover comprising of a snowman and a robin will be perched on his twig arm. With Santa 'whooshing' off above the night sky

14) FootballFan87 : Santa delivering presents, flying in the sky

15) SHANK0055 : A large fireplace with a roaring fire, Christmas garland, stockings hung etc

16) nd : Victorian carol singers beneath a street lamp in the snow

17) vinnyvega : a victorian snowy street scene, featuring Sherlock Holmes, all inside a snow globe. Flying out from behind the snow globe is Father Christmas flying into the night on his sleigh

18) tanni1930 : the cast of Downton Abbey in a Christmassy scene

19) cully83 : It will be a typical cobbled street in London. Like something you would see in Sherlock, the street will be covered in snow and by an old street lamp will be the Tardis with snow on top. The street will also be decorated with christmas lights

20) FishyFish : Baubles on a Christmas tree decorated with silhouetted cameo-style images of characters and items from this year's shows (Tardis, Holmes, stick men etc.)

21) andys corner : a festive scene involving the stars of call the midwife

22) Batfink : Santa and his reindeer classic scene

Looks like it was "Simon Mayo's Caribbean Christmas" but it was broadcast at 10am on Boxing Day 1994, not Christmas Day.
