Iron Man 3 is set at Christmas so that would be good

I believe it is Channel 4. You'll probably find they'll show them on Channel 4 towards the end of November and again towards the end of December. Personally, I think they are two of the best Christmas films ever made.

Guess the RT cover : Entries so far

1) Anthony_Ryan : A traditional nativity scene with the baby Jesus, Joseph, the Virgin Mary, Shepherds and the 3 wise men.

2) BadSignal : A Robin in A Snow filled scene

3) Only_You : The characters from ''Stickman' in a festive scene (Santa makes an appearance somewhere!)

4) wizzywick : A knitted effect. Either in the form of a traditional knitted jumper with snowflakes or snowman or a traditional scene. But, whatever the cover reveals itself to be it will appear to have the look that it has been created by knitting with wool

5) judomole : The Cover will be Shaun the sheep based on the new episode "The Farmers Lama"
Featuring Shaun and the rest of the flock, Bitzer the dog the Farmer and a lama gathered round a Christmas tree with snow in the background

6) altally : My guess is a Santa theme, similar to 1991, 1995, and 1997

7) marke09 : A Shaun the Sheep special from Aardman -
The farmer will be dressed as Santa handing out presents to Bitzer and Shaun, with Timmy dressed as an elf
In thebackground will be the rest of the sheep trying to decorate a Christmas tree but a string of lights will be around the biggest sheep -
the pigs will be dressed as the three wise men.
Also in the background will be the farmhouse with Santa's reindeer and sleigh on the roof and Santas wellies sticking out from the chimney pot.
It will also be an interactive cover so when you use an app it will have Shaun bleating MERRRRRY Christmas

8) Ian_Stevens : Cover to incorporate Sherlock and the Tardis to publicise both shows with a "Christmasy" background

9) pedrok : A traditional snowy village scene.

10) StuL42 : Santa, with sack of gifts, putting gifts under a Christmas tree

11) smokeycat : a big Christmas pudding, maybe with a robin

12) Claires_dad : a Sherlock cover with Sherlock Holmes and Watson in a snowy Victorian London

13) Aaron_Cardwell : I think we will see a traditional cover comprising of a snowman and a robin will be perched on his twig arm. With Santa 'whooshing' off above the night sky

14) FootballFan87 : Santa delivering presents, flying in the sky

15) SHANK0055 : A large fireplace with a roaring fire, Christmas garland, stockings hung etc

16) nd : Victorian carol singers beneath a street lamp in the snow

17) vinnyvega : a victorian snowy street scene, featuring Sherlock Holmes, all inside a snow globe. Flying out from behind the snow globe is Father Christmas flying into the night on his sleigh

18) tanni1930 : the cast of Downton Abbey in a Christmassy scene

19) cully83 : It will be a typical cobbled street in London. Like something you would see in Sherlock, the street will be covered in snow and by an old street lamp will be the Tardis with snow on top. The street will also be decorated with christmas lights

20) FishyFish : Baubles on a Christmas tree decorated with silhouetted cameo-style images of characters and items from this year's shows (Tardis, Holmes, stick men etc.)

21) andys corner : a festive scene involving the stars of call the midwife

22) Batfink : Santa and his reindeer classic scene

23) Boyontbridge : Sherlock, Watson and a cheerful looking Una Stubbs loitering in the Victorian background

24) Aaronub4t : A small child peering through the window of an old Victorian shop with lots of toys inside

25) Allan : Shaun the sheep in full Christmas mode

26) blueisthecolour : Sherlock Holmes related: Specifically a close up of the door of 221B Baker Street with a Christmas Wreath containing small Sherlock related items

27) johnjuan : Two stained glass windows, one featuring a snowman and the other featuring Father Christmas complete with sack of presents

28) Kittycat73 : a big red post box with snow on the top and a robin sitting on a nearby fence on a snowy street.

29) Cactus_Dave : Animation drawing style of Sherlock and Watson (in classic Holmes costume) searching with magnify glasses at footprints on a snow filled street with the subject of the footprints being Father Christmas smiling from inside a house, his sleigh on top of the house. Will be set in classic Holmes times

30) Pizzatheaction : a drawing of Santa's legs, with a dog tearing Santa's sack, and lots of balls dropping out, each with a picture of a TV show inside

31) pembo2004 : a Santa with presents

32) JOHNOR : a scene that promotes peace and good will, perhaps including church bells, snow and a small robin. I think the words "peace and goodwill" will be present somewhere

33) Spruce : The Kennedys kitted out in authentic 70s Christmas decorations

34) arunan22 : Sherlock related...likely Sherlock and Watson outside their Baker Street house, with the house decorated for Xmas and a tree outside

35) Midsblue : Santa, flying in his sleigh and The Stickman in the sleigh with him

36) davads : a mantelpiece with a row of Christmas cards, one or more of which may be the RT Christmas cards which they're offering to readers

Please let me know if I've missed anyone off!

What's on TV magazine are reporting

a) that Dickensian, the new 20 episode soap-style reworking of Charles Dickens' stories will be shown on BBC One with a Christmas Special kicking things off

and

b) ITV's Peter Pan based family drama Peter & Wendy will be shown too.

Wouldn't it be interesting if they put it out on Christmas Day?

They could cram out and go:-

15:10 Film: Wreck it Ralph
16:30 BBC News
16:45 Stick Man
17:15 Doctor Who
18:15 Dickensian
18:45 Strictly Come Dancing
20:00 Call The Midwife
21:10 EastEnders
22:10 Still Open All Hours
22:40 Mrs Brown's Boys
23:20 Michael McIntyre's Christmassy Show

ITV could go:-

15:10 ITV News
15:30 The Sound of Music (As Live)
18:00 For The Love of Dogs
19:00 Emmerdale
20:00 Coronation Street
21:00 ITV News
21:10 Downton Abbey

That is pure fantasy and would likely never happen but still would be a bit fun.

While you could argue the comedies start too late on BBC1 (I'd probably agree - and perhaps SOOAH could be moved to another night?) it would be fun to see how the news bulletins did at 3.10pm (ITV), 4.30pm (BBC), 9.00pm (ITV) and 12.20am (BBC).

And stuff. No reason why The Sound of Music can't air 'as live' on Xmas Day in theory?

Having Stick Man into Doctor Who into Dickensian would be strong too.

You'll have to adjust your BBC timings a bit as Wreck it Ralph is 1 hour 32 mins long

Yeah I know... I had to shave 10 minutes off it. Couldn't they do that somehow? haha

In reality I'd probably get rid of Still Open All Hours and run it to time:

15:10 Film: Wreck it Ralph
16:40 BBC News
17:00 Stick Man
17:30 Doctor Who
18:30 Dickensian
19:00 Strictly Come Dancing
20:15 Call The Midwife
21:25 EastEnders
22:25 Mrs Brown's Boys
23:00 Michael McIntyre's Christmassy Show

ITV the same.
