Still Open All Hours has been recommissioned. Not certain as to whether it will start at Christmas though.

I agree with you wizzywick it really is annoying when there is a double issue that doesn't include the details for New Year. However the double issues of the newspaper supplements always have listings for New Year's eve and day. By the way the 1999 Radio Times double issue instead of the usual 14 days had an extra days worth of listings.

I asked Radio Times about this and they said they would love to include New Year in every double issue but it's not possible as the TV companies do not finalise their New Year programming in time for publication.

You're addressing a pedant here my old mate! Yes, it included an extra page but ONLY for New Year's Day morning - basically until the end of the 2000 Today Broadcast on BBC1.

The only guide with a full 15 day guide was in 1993. However, the published New Year's Day programmes in the Double Issue were slightly different to the actual schedule so they didn't ever do it again!

Many issues haven't included New Year listings (see below) so it's not a rare occurrence

1971
1972
(Exception to normal dates The 1982 issue covered 24/12 t0 7/1 ) A double issue that didn't start until Christmas Eve!*
1988
1994
1995
2000
2004
2005
*The 2006 issue covered 23/12 to 5/1 !
2010
2011

(I'm sure wizzywick will correct me if I've made any mistakes )

It was the 1999 edition not to fully feature New Year's Day. The 2000 edition did. (Also ran from 23rd December). The page illustrations for the 2000 issue were ghastly! It was the dullest New Year's Eve schedule on BBC1 ever that year! The thing about 1982 was that the previous edition - 17th December also included Christmas Eve listings! There was also one Easter Issue (I think it was 1986) that also started with Good Friday listings as a recap.

Then of course the rather silly 1972 and 1995 issues that went from 16th December until 29th December! It does at least seem more organised these days.

Claires_dad, I was wondering if you could post a link to your website again please. I did have it as a favourite but my computer crashed and had to be set to original settings!

Thanks.

Indeed! And to give you all a hint, use claires_dad's website frequently for this years quiz! I believe it's tougher, but at the same time, I hope you all have fun.

7 weeks until my Quiz, my goodness how time flies!

Ah! 1981. Snow on the ground, cold, very cold outside, the whole family ill with flu! What a Christmas - but what some great Christmas delights on the telly. BBC1's Christmas Eve line up was one of their best ever and, as an 6 months to Christmas treat, here's a truly fabulous, nostalgic showreel highlighting BBCtv's 1981 Christmas - complete with the fabulous 1981 BBC1 Bauble ident.

They don't do it like this anymore.
