I hope to continue chatting to you all in the 2016 thread, and despite some posters questioning our upset over the creation of it, it is still somewhere nice to drop in and chat. In the meantime, goodbye and thank you 2015 thread, the biggest thread so far, and a very merry Christmas to you all.”

I'll hang around here for a couple of more weeks, until the final day of the current RT is all but over. Hope you, and your family, have a great Christmas and New Year Wizzy. I'll see you in the 2016 thread...but not just yet!!!

Bought the Christmas issue on Thursday and at last went through it tonight circling my picks with a red biro (actually bought two copies, one to keep). As always ITV making no effort: Downton and a few vintage Bond films being all that I'll be watching - Channels 4 and 5 barely any better. Without the BBC it'd be slim pickings indeed.

I do think though the BBC is focusing too much on kids programming and neglecting adults. And next year must be time to ring the changes and rest the Strictly, Dr Who, Eastenders, Midwife, Mrs Brown, stand up comic line-up that is being all too familiar.

Happy viewing everyone!

And bugger all on to watch. Will have to watch end of The Bridge which I normally save for my Monday matinee viewing.

Agree about BBC1 focusing too much on kids and not enough on the grown ups, just look at the number of computer animated kids movies on compared to movies for anybody over 15. Their Christmas Day line up seems set in stone now, can't see wholesale changes next year.

Had the next issue through the door today, dated 2-8th January. War & Peace on the cover with an interview with Emilia Fox at the back.
Meant to be on general sale tomorrow but most stores won't bother putting it out until next week.

Not even an apology or trying to justify it. 15% with 0.1% inflation is just a rip off.

That means next year's Christmas issue will be £4.60.
With inflation so low in the last few years how can they justify the price more than doubling since 2009?

The 2009 Christmas issue was £2.20. That's £2.62 in today's money. Unbelievable!

AS THE POSTER ABOVE SAYS not even an apology on page three such as we are sorry but due t rising production costs etc - I knew we would end up paying for their big shindig the RT festival - stop self promotions!

The price has risen 100% in five years! The £5 double issue will be here in 2017

I never like seeing the "next" RT in the shops before it's even Christmas (still less seeing it come through the door, I try to avoid even looking at the cover!); I want the double issue to retain its standalone festive kudos for as long as possible. I'm sure they didn't leap in as early as this in the '70s/'80s glory days...

I guess it's a marketing thing to lure the Christmas only buyers to being year-round readers though.

I posted here before that by 2020 it would go up to £6 but as it stands it would cost you £6.50 unless they put it up again then you could be looking at £7

Who cares. Just buy the Christmas special issue via the £1 sub offer that always happens around October / November each year . That's exactly the way I've been buying the Christmas issue for the past few years. In fact I don't remember the last time I paid full price

I do.
This year I was paid £1.05 via Topcashback for the 12 issues for a £1.00 offer.
Happy Christmas.
