I know people will shrug of because its from the Star, but they get the X Factor voting results right every year.

They said Sam B was topping the votes in 2013 - she was.
They said Ben was topping in the last few weeks with Fleur second - true.

They tend to get it right!

Of course, that would be ignoring the many occasions that the Daily Star have pulled their 'voting figures' out of thin air - we'll just have to wait and see what happens tonight.

Are the voting lines open already then?

Oh, hang on, it was the Daily Star that boasted about their exclusive gossip that they knew who had topped the votes in week one (i.e. the one week without a public vote), wasn't it? No, I wouldn't take much of what they say as gospel at all.

When? People always say that and then quote the Sun's voting figures.

Star said Maloney was topping the votes too. Nobody believed them.

They said the pope was of the RC persuasion and that bears tend to defecate in wooded areas - he is and they do.

A non-existent phone vote, interestingly. I'm sure I could come up with more examples but that would involve having to read the Daily Star. Swings and roundabouts.

They were right that Ben was leading Fleur, but the % they gave were miles out in Ben's case. They claimed he got 50% of the vote - he got 38%.

Besides which they leaked at this stage last year that Susanna was leading the public vote with Sophie a distant second with only half her votes, and everyone else out of it. Then...neither of them won.

How could they know the voting figures if the lines are not open yet

Last year near the end they said it was Susannah, it might have been at the time but it wasn' t in the final.

My own theory on that is that Susanna was ahead until Sophie was eliminated, at which point the anti-Susanna vote was undiluted enough for the less controversial candidate of the remaining two to win.

But I digress.

It's a perfectly legitimate OPINION POLL. They've either done their own poll or employed a polling company to do it for them. Lots of media outlets have them. They may or may not come up with the same result as the actual vote.

It has no connection whatsoever with the actual voting tonight. There has been no actual voting so far. The voting doesn't open until after the first two dances have been completed.

Then the couple who get the fewest votes from the public once the phone lines and internet voting open is eliminated. The remaining three couples dance again and there's a final public vote to decide on the winner.

Then and only then will we know who has won.
