Hmm, you may be able to get what you're wanting by going to the horse's mouth - i.e. ultimatestrictly.com, which is where I get the raw data from for the above tables.

Craig's 10 is "worth more" in the sense that 95% of the time it means the contestant has got a 40 which, based on how people speak nowadays, is what they really want. It doesn't mean they value Craig's opinion or think it carries more weight. If you listen to who the contestants say they want to impress specifically, it's almost invariably Len or Darcey.

The performance element makes all the difference to the judges.

It's a dancing competition - but typically all we see until late on are celebs desperately hoping to remember all of the steps and get through the routine without making any mistakes.

Even if they don't make the slightest mistake, that's not dancing.

The turning point the judges are waiting for is when the celeb instead starts delivering routines he/she is proud of, with a "Check THIS out" attitude.

Jake got high marks because he's adept at giving the impression that he's having a ball.

Caroline's last four routines all had that magic ingredient. Viewers pick up on the fact that the celeb is feeling really good about what he/she is doing, and they find the routine more enjoyable as a result.

Simon may not have been in that place, but for an AT the more tension the better

If anything I just think the other two couples showed a bit more of a connection with each other and the audience.”

That's what happened with Louis' Charleston. Although I think he was probably already miles ahead by then in the polls.
