Is this a rare year where we are all happy with the result?

Frankie was never a worthy winner, but i'd have been happy with Simon or Carolin winning.
M faves wer Pixie and Jake so i wasn't that fussed once they left anyway.

seems to be a pretty harmonious result, or at least no open warfare

Best year for some time in my opinion, a lovely bunch of people.”

It was the right result, never warmed to Caroline but it was a good result and her dancing was fabulous. Her show dance was amazing and I don't really like that style of dancing. Brave decision by Pasha and it paid off.

The public gets what the public wants. That's fine by me.

I just didn't "get" Caroline. But that's OK. Alesha's another one I didn't much like. Winning SCD is no big deal once the tinsel gets taken off the tree. Looking back the only 2 dances I can vaguely remember are Pixie's tulips and Pixie's housewife and I wasn't even aware of being that crazy about Pixie.

I think there were many GOOD/competent dancers this year. More than any other year. But nobody excited me.

My favourite moment was the 'green' Frankie. How can someone be so beautiful with a green face? Princess Fiona is minging.

Not happy.. I found Caroline and Mark tied for most unlikeable contestant in the last four.

However the public disagreed and she was their chosen winner.

The rules of the game.

I sort of sighed when Mark was out, it made the final 'final' a little more edge of the seat for me as they were all good. I wanted Simon to win but didn't begrudge Caroline or Frankie, if she'd won either.

People will never always agree and many won't be happy with the result but overall, the results were pleasing to a lot of people. I loved watching it and again, congratulations to Caroline and Pasha.

I was disappointed that Caroline won, she was not my choice, either Frankie or Simon would have made me happy.

However, I am not going to moan and groan about it, she won and that's that.

I was happy last year so it's swings and roundabouts, isn't it!!

All happy ? You're having a laugh aren't you ?
I'm happy Mark didn't win, but that's about all I can say about the actual result.

I enjoyed the final more than any other in years and like so many others, would have been happy with any of the last three as champions.

* All three could dance to a good standard.

* All three had at least one WOW dance.

* All three stuck to the 'rules' of their dances.

All three had pros I rate on the show, which was a bonus for me.

Given this board didn't explode after the result, I'd say yes, this was a rare year. If only we had more of them.

I would have preferred Frankie, but on the night, Caroline was the right winner.

Not happy at all as the final was loaded in Caroline's favour.

The judges pick for Frankie was her weakest dance from the whole series, and yet they didn't give Caroline her worst dance (which would have been any of her ballroom dances) but gave her the only Latin dance she managed reasonably well, but which showed little improvement in the final. The judges all criticised Pixie for her leg action being inconsistent when she danced cha cha cha, when it was at least 50% perfect, but didn't criticise Caroline for her poor leg action in the final - wonder why?

Caroline then managed to avoid any of the technical dances by dancing contemporary for her showdance (a style in which she had previously trained) and a party dance as her third.

All 3 of the other finalists managed to show that they had actually learned the 10 dances on which the show is meant to be based.

In future finals I think there should be a rule that all 4 must dance 1 ballroom and 1 Latin dance along with their showdance.

I agree the BIB should be a basic requirement of the final.

I like how this meme of 'Caroline is a terrible Ballroom dancer' is taking root.

She wasn't strong, but so what, she wasn't exactly Widdy at it either. Its beginning to sound like sour grapes.

Simon has excellent Ballroom and also some of the ropiest latin around. Frankie has pretty good Ballroom, but heavy legged latin with poor lifts. Having strengths and weaknesses and playing to those strengths make the show interesting.

I agree. It didn't explode, either in a negative or positive way. But doesn't that also indicate a general lack of interest this year ? My wife is usually on the phone. or texting her friends about the show..this year, a quick text to her sister after the result was about all. All I get from posts here, and speaking to other people is..oh yes, Caroline won, I thought she would. I just don't think it grabbed people this year, do you agree ?

Ok it's an outrage.
Fix.
Sack the judges.
Sack the public.

There was a complete lack of excitement this year. The result was predictable and there was nothing any of the others could have done to change it. Still there's winning, and then there's winning.

That's exactly how I felt.
She was the very first dancer to dance on week 1 and I thought wow, she's bloody good. After watching the rest of the dancers on week 1/2 I still thought she was better than anyone else and I've wanted her to win since then. Caroline was the most consistent dancer by far over the whole series.

I thought Caroline was a worthy winner, though I think it's fair to say she was overmarked in the final and in the past couple of weeks compared to others... Well, that's always been a bit of a Strictly phenomenon, the judges do appear to close ranks at the end around their favourite.

Although the overmarking did annoy me, I cant dispute the fact that Caroline was good and deserving of the win. Really I didn't feel strongly about who won, as long as it wasn't Mark. I think that's quite a common sentiment this year: nobody could really dispute the right of the top 3 to be in the final, so even if we'd have preferred a different winner it wasn't going to be a result people got overly angry with (albeit that Pixie should have been in the final really).

One thing I will mention I enjoyed about this year is that the contestants all had a nice camaraderie and seemed to get along. I think it gave the show a very friendly and warm atmosphere and the fun that they all seemed to be having was very infectious. So thumbs up for their attitude, really.

My thoughts exactly. I lost interest in this mediocre series and just looked in here for the result.
It will have to improve next year to hold my interest once more.
