Last year it was filmed in the spring, so he did already have time to do it then.

As for the wife of Robbie Williams, she would be a very early boot. Virtually unknown and not British. Celebs failing on one of those points already have had it tough in the past, let alone failing on both points.

And even though they will be gunning for a male winner, I do hope that they cast some younger women with personalities this time around (which was sorely lacking last year).

Sigh! In your opinion.... I liked the younger women on the latest series. I bet if they had some girls who were really wacky and over the top they'd get slaughtered on here for being 'annoying'.

How about one of the members of The Overtones?

I liked all the female cast last series which was an improvement on the series before where there were a few too many marmite signings in the cast as a whole. I only really liked Natalie and Sophie in that series....Rachel Riley and Deborah Meadon were ok.....but the rest I really didn't care for....if someone is 'wacky' or OTT then there's a fair chance they will get on your nerves....I mean I thought Susanna Reid got a vast amount of flak on here and in the media at large during strictly but I can't deny that at times I found her annoying.....by the way if a male is OTT they won't escape the flak either.....eg Julien MacDonald.

Sounds like we have similar taste then!

I'd rather have some good dancers than 'big' personalities on the show anyway, but I think being nice doesn't mean someone has no personality. I found Caroline, Pixie and Frankie all very likeable and would much prefer them over someone OTT and annoying like you say - nothing wrong with celebrities being 'normal'!

I think this could be the year for Davina McCall and Paul Hollywood I've been expecting their names the last couple of years.

I wouldn't want to see this Lucy on strictly.......and surely the producers wouldn't stoop so low as to invite to invite a TOWIE/RTV attention seeker on the show whose main claim to fame is courting tabloid attention and getting off with famous celebs.?...Oh wait minute they already have!......anyway I realised now I've said I don't want to see her on strictly she'll probably get a place, but to me it'll just prove how lacking in imagination the producers are.....they've had her type for the past few series and this is the type of signing that is spoiling the show for me. I mean do people really want to see 'Me nerrrrrves, me triple nans, me famous other half, I'm so humble',< sob, sob, wail, wail >, WAG to ballroom princess type storyline again? Such gluttons for punishment!......and you just know that if she's on the show she'll be hyped and shell gain a fawning fanatical fan group who'll attack anyone who dares question that hype or her claims to fame.

Give me someone like Davina McCall over Lucy anyday. Davina might be marmite but at least she comes across as a strong woman who could have something interesting to say and contribute to the show.

I assume from your label of 'this Lucy' that you don't know who she is, so why so opposed to her being on the show? My initial view of her on Tumble was pretty much "oh no, another TOWIE person who's famous for being famous" but actually, after a few weeks, I really warmed to her. She came across as being quite sweet, but more importantly, she actually worked hard - and it showed, because she improved no end. I wouldn't say I was a fan now but I was impressed with her work ethic and her attitude to the show.

One of the joys of a programme like SCD for me is having your initial preconceptions on the people taking part completely shattered, and that's happened a few times for me.

I know enough about her to know she's not the type of 'personality' that would interest me. I know about as much about her as I knew about Mark Wrght and Abbey Clancey and they didn't appeal to me before the show either - neither of them changed my view of them when they appeared on Strictly - they may have reached the finals but I found them both vacuous, dull and overrated. I think they would try and fit Lucy Into the same type of storylines they gave them because she's a similar type of personality to those two.

Anyway it's a bit rich of you lecturing me about being dismissive of Lucy when you've been dismissive of Davina! She might be marmite but at least she has a spark about her. As I said before give me someone like Davina over the likes of Lucy any day.

Or Kate Bliss, or Anita Manning; we've had Tim Wonnacott, now time to show off the antiques expert of the female persuasion.

On a related note, a TV Historian might be nice - Lucy Worsely always crops up, and would be utterly fabulous, but Neil Oliver or Suzannah Lipscomb would be equally good signings.

Now some 'personalities' are just mega marmite - Louis Spence is one of them. He'd also be a mega ringer to boot! ..........John Barrowman would be good though - just about the right amount of marmite and ringiness

If you know a bit of her fair enough. I expected to dislike Mark Wright but ended up liking him - Abbey's appeal was lost on me though. I'm not really interested in the storyline thing though, more if they engage me with their performances and personality.

Huge Arena Tour in the Autumn, so none of the "family" will be available.
Methinks Jennifer did Strictly so he got some peace and quiet to write new material

James May or Richard Hammond may be looking for something to do ???

I don't expect them to get A-listers on strictly or for all the line up to consist of big names in entertainment/sports - I don't mind if there's some in there I've never heard of - as long as they've done something worthwhile in their careers - to me being in TOWIE or any of the trashy scripted RTV shows, shagging famous celebs isn't anything to be proud of - you get to see these types on all the other competitive reality tv shows anyway....it would be nice if strictly didn't try go the way of the other reality competitive tv shows like they have for the past few series - to me Mark seemed to have a similar storyline as they gave Abbey - the only difference is it was less successful for him - and surely the personality is tied up in the storyline the producers give them? I just got fed up with his constant going on about being a 'novice' - I put the blame on the producers and presenters here as I think they very much encouraged it, more than about half the cast were novices and I don't recall them going on about it as much as he did! And don't get me started on his name dropping of Michelle, wheeling his nans out, his self indulgent speeches after his performances and him moaning about his busy schedule.

Michelle Mone will probably be a contestant, this year. She's been asked before and she seems intent on raising her profile at the moment.

Aidan Turner had represented Ireland at Ballroom dancing. Sadly this makes him too much of a ringer!
