WOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

After watching Jay in this, not only has he shot right up in my estimations...I also need to pose the question "why are we even having a competition this year?"”

Because Strictly isn't just about being the best dancer, look at Pixie Lott and DVO.

He looks better than both of them put together and has the added bonus of being male - so probably won't face as strong a "ringer" backlash as a female would/has.

I'm rooting for Anthony but being realistic an' all dat...

It doesn't matter that Jay has all of the experience because he is male, and a male celebrity with dance experience will never get as much criticism.

But if Jay does lie about the amount of dance training he has had on the launch then I might have a problem with him

The Wanted's last single charted at 177 and their album charted at number 9. The majority of The Wanted's fans moved on to One Direction. I'm not doubting the fact he does have a fanbase, but I don't think he's quite the runaway runner yet. Mark Wright has almost triple the amount of Twitter followers that Jay has and we all know what happened there.

Yes - the majority of them clearly don't fit Strictly's demographic...

The majority of them are probably the same age and demographic as fans of The Wanted.

She does seem to put her foot in her mouth and I think if she wants to stay a while on strictly she does need to think before she speaks.....however, if all the contestants were safe and boring and came out with prepared speeches it would make for a very boring strictly...so I hope she doesn't suppress too much of her personality.....I personally thought it was hilarious when she stuck up for Alesha by having a go at Javine I think as long as they pair her with the right pro and she tries hard...she should be ok.

I like that Jay could be our ringer,,,,it's about time we had a male one. Bring on the great dancing!

He was very upfront about it when he was announced, he stated straight away that he had danced at either college or stage school, I forget which.

Jay from the Wanted is massively downplaying his skills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_mRdJJxiHw - You can see how good he is, and that he has more then the contemporary dance training too, a male ringer you could say
Plus he can do this http://www.andpop.com/wp-content/upl...mjc7o1_500.jpg !!!!!

So i'm finding it very hard to see past a Jay, Jamelia, Helen and Georgia final this year, with a Jay win to be honest.”

It hasn't even started.

Did not realise that Jamelia was from near me until I looked her up on Google apparently she is from Handsworth, West Midlands or if you are unsure where that is to be more specific Handsworth in Birmingham, I wonder what football team she supports I'm guessing either West Bromwich Albion or Aston Villa, I used to live in West Bromwich as well as born there and support West Bromwich Albion but have since moved to Dudley.

Jay will produce some quality dances given the right partner. That means keeping him away from Ola and Karen (Mark's showdance and Nicky's cha cha spring to mind ). The other pro dancers are capable of top notch choreography. Otlile is an unknown quantity but other pros were assigned talented celebs in their first series e.g. Artem, Pasha, Natalie and Aljaz so she could get this year's trump card.

Not sure why Jay is doing Strictly - according to reports this morning - he could have done X-Factor.

Filipina sisters who have son talent shows all over asia, and had a recording contract with Sony, specially flown in to take part, and pretend they are amateurs !!!

And Strictly forumites moan about a Celebs who did a bit of tap and modern jazz dancing at stage school !!

Oh wow! X Factor is really desperate this year isn't it? The Philippine sisters weren't even that good! They just growled and shouted the whole way through the song! Strictly FTW!!!

I agree, really don't want him getting Karen or Ola. Don't think Karen's choreography or teaching is up to much and Ola's is incredibly tired, starfish, starfish, knee slide would be an utter waste of his potential

I don't understand why you think Ola and Karen are not suitable partners for Jay. I'd have thought he needs to avoid the pros who are not trained ballroom dancers.

Is Skyler's list the rest of the X-Factor cast? If so, I'm watching for sure! And to Steve's question, why is X-Factor a better show to be on than Strictly for Jay? (especially since he's apparently a hairy jumbo-size combination of Fred Astaire and Michael Jackson)

My comment about Jay was that bearing in mind this ....

https://uk.celebrity.yahoo.com/post/...ns-as-girlband

He could probably have quaified to do X-Factor if he chose - despite being a member of a successful band - as they are brining in "ringer" acts from round the World to take part in the UK

Ola's choreography is more crummy than quality. As for Karen I referenced two of her routines that stuck in my mind for being rather substandard. Natalie, Aliona and Kristina are ballroom proficient so I'm not too sure which pros you're referring to.

Thanks for the explanation, Steve It took me a while, but nothing whatsoever shocks me about reality shows - I'm the world's biggest cynic and don't believe a single word any of them, producers or cast members, EVER say, though it looks like they admitted they scout around for talent and they've always been upfront about it ??? Anyway, I've never watched it, and I think we have a version of it, though I get it mixed up with "The Voice."

Anyway, as to Jay, I know I should have been reading the board better, but I assume Jay isn't trained in ballroom dancing specifically, as opposed to other kinds of dancing, but like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if he competed in Dancesport ballroom because reality shows are c-o-r-r-u-p-t. That said, I've made my peace with it and don't care anymore (though I reserve the right to get angry when they screw over my pet pros even when I'm happy if they cheat to help my pets.) Anyhow... I forgot who I wanted Jay paired with! So just for today, I'll pick Natalie (though I'd faint if they actually gave her a young 'un in with a chance!)
