If that is anywhere near true, I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and had a squee

I think the Strictly criteria is only that people must not have trained/competed in ballroom and Latin. For which reason, after celeb Masterchef I would adore Kimberley Walsh (and kinda rules out Mark Cavendish to my deep and eternal regret )

Andrew Ridgeley has tweeted that there's no truth in the rumours, but he'd consider if they were to make him an offer.

I DEMAND a jive to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go in a 'Choose Life' t-shirt if he's in.

EDIT-

Yuck. A further look at his Tweet history reveals that he's a Tory. No ta.

I think that's just something they say to try and calm viewers down about 'ringers', but I bet if Cheryl F-V wanted to go on the show, for example, they'd change the rule pretty quick and come up with some other excuse (probably true for Mark Cavendish as well if they had a chance to get a really good male dancer on). That rule doesn't really make sense these days anyway as so many of the dances are not 'proper' ballroom that other dance training becomes more of an advantage.

Knowing Strictly we'd get a rhumba to I'm your man.

Kimberly Wyatt has had ballroom training. It was mentioned a few times when she judged Got to Dance. Personally I'd love her to become a judge on Strictly. She has a great all round knowledge of dance.

To be honest, I've got to the point where I'm really not that bothered. Doing well on Strictly depends on so much more than just the actual dancing and previous experience can be so much more of a hindrance than a help - but if a bit of prior experience gets us half way decent dances in the first few weeks when the novices are stumbling over their feet with nerves, then fair enough. And if MyLittleCav ever put his hand up for the gig, at least we'd get a male rhumba that wasn't completely toe curling

Cheryl would never do the British version I don't think, I think she'd do Dancing with the Stars as the unknown Brit (ala Katherine Jenkins) and be partnered with Derek. She'd probably be a runaway winner over there - whereas over here she has a lot of people who love her but also a number who really dislike her, and that added in with the RINGER stigma would probably put her off.

If they did really want ringers like Mark and Cheryl, they should have a whole cast full of ringers to make it fair.

I googled to find his Twitter page and it came up with quite a few Andrew Ridgleys - the one claiming to be Andrew Ridgley from Wham, I'm a bit suspicious as I don't think its him. I don't think he's the type to go on Twitter because as said he's seems a very private person.

I don't think he's doing strictly, but if he is ( Tory or not ) and I can't stand the Tories - I actually think he'd be a very good signing - a member of one of the biggest pop groups of the 80s and he also has two very famous connections.

This may be a bit left-field, but is Miriam Margolyes too famous to do the show? She's a bit of a loose cannon and would be a great comedy signing imo!

How very true.

Oh, and they would have six backing dancers as well.

Sorry, but he'd have me running screaming from the TV - the thought of him doing a rhumba is already making me cringe so hard I've nearly turned myself inside out.

I'd adore Kimberley or Cavendish, but I doubt either. Still surprised Iwan Thomas has never been in the line up.

Was never a Wham fan, but Andrew Ridgley would be a n excellent signing

Mark Curry, Jonnie Peacock, Lizzie Yarnold, Ken Dodd those are people I would like to see

I think I might have found Andrew Ridgley's genuine Twitter page - I'm surprised he's on Twitter and yeah he is denying the rumour. Perhaps that means he's doing it?

If the Redknapps are doing it, I'd imagine they're almost certainly going to be paired with the newlywed Cliftons, reminiscent of Jordans/Logans. The Cliftons also seem to be well-liked by the producers too.

I saw the headline of an article today with Andrew Ridgely discussing his relationship which makes me think it's likely he'll be in - getting his name back out there and generating a bit of publicity before the series.

Sadly I think you may be right, Kevin seems to be the producer's new favourite so no doubt they'll give him another good dancer.

I'd much rather see Jamie and Natalie and Louise and Tristan, or even Jamie and Janette and Louise and Aljaz.

I don't mind Kevin but I doubt if he'll get one of the top draw contestants this year. He's been in the finals two years running - even Artem and Pasha after they had two good years in a row on strictly were given weaker contestans in their 3 rd years so I'd be very surprised if the producers decide to favour Kevin for the 3rd year in a row.

Wouldn't Louise be too tall for him?

It's a shame Louise wasn't in the line up last year she would have been far more suited to Kevin than Frankie - I did like him with Frankie but felt she was a bit too tall for him.

I suppose if they want to do the whole wife v husband thing then Kevin could be in massive luck again, but with two new male pros starting and Tristan fans wanting him to get a ringer - I think one of them are going to be are going to be the lucky ones.

Only thing that has me doubt this is the shoddy research from the reporter in question (listing Jack Whitehall as being 43 ). It would at least give us the obvious ringer of the series.

If this is true, we would have probably have 3 female popstars this year (Louise, Michelle and Jamelia). *packs in his Nat Imbruglia Strictly campaign for next year*

I have a feeling Natalie will be filling the role Erin seemed to end up with from now on - duffer/MOR territory. Same for Brendan perhaps too.

What happens with Ola and Kristina will be interesting. They haven't exactly been generating 'positive' publicity, but it's publicity all the same!
