As happy as I am with the winner of this year's series, I'm saddened to see that some Caroline and Pixie fans are continuing to bait each other about how the other one was vastly inferior and only one is any good etc. Each to their own but I find myself thinking - am I odd in that I'm gutted that Pixie missed the final AND happy that Caroline won?
From the very start I chose Pixie and Jake as my favourites as they impressed me most with their performances, and I also got to find both very likeable. I love Jake's energy and enthusiasm, and also the sheer unexpectedness of how he could move like that! I also love Pixie for her performance skill in a totally different way - I know some have questioned it, but she always drew me in to her routines and got an emotional reaction out of me, which for me went over and above simply being a good dancer.
I also liked Caroline a lot and liked her progressively more as the series went on, to the point that there were some weeks when I enjoyed her more than either of my 'favourites' - so I guess in the latter stages she joined the ranks and became a favourite too! I thought her Charleston was brilliant and better than either Jake's or Pixie's, and she too started to draw me in to her routines.
I was pretty gutted that Pixie and Jake didn't get to the final but any of those three winning would have been a great result for me and so I'm delighted that Caroline won. I'm confident that Pixie and Jake would both have been amazing in the final had they been there, but would they have been better than Caroline? Possibly not. She was exceptional, IMO. So instead of stating why Pixie may have been technically superior or why Caroline had the edge, I want to state that I think they're both amazingly talented and have provided loads of first class entertainment!
I'll add that, although for me the wrong people were in the final, the last four all did a good job on the night and put on a very entertaining show which I enjoyed a lot more than I expected to.
Please someone say I'm not the only one who is fed up of the Pixie V Caroline arguments and didn't have one person who I put on a pedestal above all others?
