I don't how good they are (don't wear tights... in public ) but just found it searching for Bianca's brand in curiosity if she had set up a website (doesn't seem so...)

Bianca is clueless. £35 for bucket died cheap tights.

Not a surprise really. It's not that retailers didn't think of it before, they were just too expensive to manufacture because of the variations. Remember that each skin tone will also need slightly different packaging too.

So if you have 15 colours in small, medium and large, that is 45 products and 45 different packets. Incredibly expensive.

You would need a retailer the size of Debenhams with it's buying power to even contemplate it.

A stupid idea that was not a good investment.

You don't need different packaging for each colour, the clear window at the top of the packet would show the colour and the specific name of the colour and specific size is usually just a sticky label attached to generic packaging. You'd only need different packaging for different deniers.

Even if there is a gap in the market for skin tone tights, is there actually much demand for it? Is it actually high up on the list of things to buy for women? Could it be that the gap is there because there isn't really a market for it?

Hey, if it worked for Spanx lady, it would work for Bianca. Add some shaping into it, lower the price and it would work and sell imo.

There is a definate market for what she is proposing.

I do agree, 45 products is an awful lot of space in a store and potentially a lot of unsold returns. I'd have thought it would be something that is perfect for an online product really.

I think it is a fantastic idea. A bit like true match foundation... I would be willing to pay a lot of money for a pair of tights that were a perfect match... wouldn't do it very often though only for really special occasions.

A great idea but might be costly unless you're only selling to people with that kind of money

She threw her chances away tonight by refusing to listen to her team, market research people and industry experts. I understand that she is passionate about the product and has always had visions of it being a high end thing but everyone kept telling her that she was going in the wrong direction. Someone might pay 20 odd quid for tights if they were made by a well known brand that had been around for years but even then I can't see many people forking out that much money for something that might only last a few weeks.

I think that her range was FAR too extensive. But surely the best way to flog such a product would be online, not in shops? The whole range could be available then. Other niche hosiery ranges are sold online, eg support stockings as these need to be very accurately sized.

I did a quick search during tonight's episode and found another site doing skin tone tights too. With the price mark Bianca was looking for, even buying from abroad was cheaper. That said though the tight I found had no control top.

Don't tights have very short useful life too where they get holes in them and have to be thrown out?

I've just written about these in another thread! Bianca's £20 or even £7.99 for a pair of her tights is just ridiculous...

Don't see much of a colour range there and nothing at £3.50. A spoiler possibly. What they plan to buy in and what they currently offer are two different things.

As soon as she decided to stick to her guns and not lower the price to under 20 quid I knew she was a goner. People MIGHT fork out that amount if the brand were well known or high end designer but for a new business set up that no one has heard of before it was far too risky. I think she had it in her head that she wanted uber professional city working women/rich women with money to throw around buying them and she didn't want her product to be something that your average working class woman could afford to buy, it felt a little elitist in a way and that disappointed me.

BIanca went into the final without knowing how much she was going to charge.

She wasn't selling dyed tights. Do try and keep up.
