Was he referring to Frankie as a horse as that is how I seen it

Nope, he meant that the quickstep bits of the dance round the floor were a bit trotty in his opinion.

I thought he was referring to the bit on the benches when Kevin was in the middle and Frankie was jumping from one to the other around him. Craig said 'It looked like you were training a horse'.

Craig can be so cruel.

No, it was nothing to do with the QS portion, he said the bit on the benches with Kevin in the middle was like he was training a horse.

To the OP, he wasn't insulting her or in anyway saying she was horselike, it was Kevin's choreography that meant the effect he was going for didn't quite come off and looked like a horse and it's trainer.

You could see what he meant, though.

i've watched it back and you are right. I think I missed that bit of the remark. I have heard him describe QSs as trotty in the past, so that was what I thought he meant.

Not being up on horse training (on reflection, dressage maybe?) I didn't think about the fact that it could have applied to the bit on the benches.

Craig is all about Craig , seeking attention and the spotlight with his nonsence

They normally have a long webbing strap attached to the horse called a lunge.

Yes that was it. And Craig was spot on. Frankies dance was lovely till she starting wobbling about on those benches.

I don't think the choreography was great although Frankie danced it superbly - I think Craig was criticising KFG more than Frankie - though Frankie was clearly not his favourite

the one thing Craig criticised was the benches which as something Frankie wanted, as judged marks did not count on the night think he was pretty curlish with the horse remark

I agree, the remark was unnecessary, especially as all the other judges only had compliments to say to all the couples. For some reason Craig seem to dislike Frankie - or was it Kevin? Maybe he saw them as too much of competition for Caroline who he - like all the judges - clearly favoured.

For goodness sake, Craig said he really liked the dance except for the part with the benches. What do you want him to do... lie and say he loved it all when he really didn't. If he had done that and then given her a 9 people wouldn't understand why she didn't get a 10 and then that would be another argument. Gosh he can't win

What would he say to Laura Trott if she were to do SCD in about 5 years's time ?

Craig is the most honest judge and you could totally see that the jumping from one bench to the next did not fit in with the dance at all. It looked really amateurish, more like you would see a dad holding his child's hand while they walked on a wall.

No, he was referring to the bench part. He wasn't comparing her to a horse in general, so no need to overreact.

I didn't see them doing any of these, they are called Promenade runs.

You've mistaken my meaning completely. I know he wasn't comparing her to a horse in general. I was in fact trying to counter the suggestion that he was. My mistake was I misheard Craig and so confused what it was he was criticising. Someone else has already cleared that up.

Thanks for the information. Not being an expert, and mishearing Craig, I mistook what he was commenting on.

Like I said, I know nothing about the subject. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Heaven forefend that people should read the thread before jumping on posts.

I couldn't fathom out why the bench bit was anything to do with training horses whereas I could see the running round the floor might do. Though it would seem that was a misinterpretation of the technicalities also...but sure looked like it to me, the lay viewer (which i think is the majority type).

What is certain to me is that Craig wasn't calling Frankie a horse, which clearly you weren't suggesting (that was the OP).

Oddly enough some horse mad people over on the BBC site immediately thought it was the apparent lunge rein training with the benches rather than the QS steps.

I can't remember a pro being so openly criticised in a final before. And Clifton was the one who turned it on Frankie when he gestured towards her and screeched "a horse?". He would have been better taking it on the chin himself seeing as the comment was aimed at him. I felt sorry for Frankie.
