Mark has been in the UK for few years. Did anyone mention if he is legally in the UK and allowed to work?

Well he's been working here so I assume everything in order, though I did notice that his current employer did seem to speak with an Australian accent.

Remember that The Apprentice is produced by the same company who produce The X Factor. After the Gamu Nhengu fiasco several years back, you can bet your arse that they thoroughly check visas and the like.

I would suspect he's on a working holiday visa, which expires after 2 years...

I don't think there's anything in the rules to say the business has to be UK based. But maybe he has dual nationality

Australians can claim Ancestry visa, remember how white people got to Austrailia in the first place many of them were British went there to work on those cheap tickets via ship. Or earlier of course they were sent there to serve out crimes of murder etc, so I'm sure he can look up his ancestors that were born here in the UK, with the ancestry visa he can work here no problem.

Very likely its a UK ancestry Visa which would allow him to work for up to 5 years, extend this time or settle permanently.

I don't remember why but I believe an Irish passport works better for Australians than an English one regarding how long they can work/stay.

Hardly necessary to murder anyone. People got transported for theft, handling, or being an accomplice to it. 7 -10 years trnsportation was common. And you didn't get a return ticket.

From Australia - working holiday (used to be up to age 30), sponsored working visa which can be extended as long as the employer wants you - you can claim citizenship eventually, or through family heritage.
