For good ness sake.....it only happened yesterday! It takes time to examine a multitude of potential mechanical failures. It takes time to interview the driver and his workmates......they are all likely to be in shock. Witnesses will have to be interviewed; that could involve several hundred witnesses. All the investigators will be looking at different aspects of the crash in order to build up a full picture of why the lorry crashed. Only then will it be possible to release the details and any possible recommendations.

There was a case recently where some silly twerp had made the mistake of posting derogatory comments about a boxer. Most were ignored by the boxer guy until the Twitter twerp went one stage too far and boxer guy tracked him down.....then posted a photograph of the street sign where the guy lived saying "i'm in your street now....come outside and be a man".

Thankfully it all turned out good in the end with the Twitter twerp posting apologies and i believe he eventually met him and apologised.”

Thanks for the info, appreciated.

This is a joke, right?

He won't have blood on his hands though.

The idiot will be the one who takes the law into his own hands. There are idiots on Twitter but there are just as many who are just as bad if not worse who chose to dish out their own kind of justice. Who made them moral guardians?

I don't really understand why if there were two other people in the cab, they could not intervene and apply the brake?

Probably because its not easy to do when someone's slumped in the drivers seat.

I really think they would have if they could.

I suppose if the driver was heavy that would have made it very difficult. Is there a hand brake accessible to passengers on dustcarts?

They probably feel really bad that they couldn't do anything, surely they would have if they could.

Yes it's a joke, it's not that difficult to release SOME details of the initial findings of the cause of an road accident that took place 24 hours ago.

Do you actually have any knowledge on how major incidents are investigated?

They have released SOME details.
What exactly are you wanting at this stage? A copy of the driver's blood work?

It's not normal practice, and I don't see how releasing such information would assist their continuing investigation, or anybody else.

Yes... But pulling the handbrake on a moving vehicle isn't a good idea.

Easier said than done. We are talking of a 30 ton truck here which doesn't stop like a car, also some vehicles have the handbrake fitted on the right. The very best they could have done would be to grab the steering wheel....but then what? Even knocking it out of gear wouldn't do anything as i imagine most of these trucks have semi auto boxes.

- Names, ages, photos of the 6 people who died
- 10 people, including the driver, hospitalised
- Driver possibly had a heart attack /seizure at the wheel
- 2 other men in the cab with the driver
- Detailed account of the bin lorry's movements over the last 200 yards.

Seriously, it's been just over 24 hours. What more do you want at this stage!?

He was asking about details of what happened to the driver.

Clearly you have little or no idea of how these things work.

For example - if a Police spokesman was heard to say, "Oh aye, he was pished" there ends any possible trial.

Or.....................if a Police spokesman was heard to say, "Oh aye, he had a heart attack" that would be just as wrong. Police officers are not qualified or permitted to give out medical updates.

One of the first things the Police will have done this morning is to begin a thorough examination of the vehicle. This is carried out by 2 fully qualified Traffic Officers, and involves a full strip down of braking, steering systems etc, to ascertain whether there were any defects or failures.

You don't do that in a couple of hours.

It's entirely possible that nobody knows what happened to the driver yet and that the doctors are still doing tests. After all, as has already been pointed out countless times, this only happened just over 24 hours ago .

Maybe you should give the police a buzz I'm sure they'll give you all the information you want

Or maybe they do have a good idea, but don't feel any inclination to tell random members of the public, because the police aren't a tabloid newspaper, and that's not their job.
