If that is his name then I certainly hope he doesn't fall victim to any lowlife vigilantes. The poor chap will have to live with guilt for the rest of his life.

Not sure where you got that from, he'll be required to give evidence, either written or in person at the Fatal Accident Inquiry/inquiries and I can't see any grounds for anonymity there.

I know, the article I read (Sunday Mail) even specifies the area of Glasgow he stays in. He has not returned to his flat since the accident.

Well Glasgow City Council said that his identity would be kept secret 'indefinitely'. Obviously the powers that be would know who he was on a 'need to know' basis but I didn't think his name would be released to the general public.

Exactly this. They should have kept his name out of the media.

That poor man is in counselling and has to live with this for the rest of his life. Totally inconsiderate and disrespectful to publish his name.

Sorry I know it's completely unrelated but all those criminals out there who get given new identities to protect them then the media go and name this poor man. I really hope he doesn't suffer because of this but sadly there are a lot of sick people put there who will get a cheap thrill by gunning for him.

It's just absolutely terrible how this poor man's name and the area of Glasgow where he stays has been allowed to be published in these rags.
God help him.

Hopefully the vigilante mentality yobs will have long forgotten the incident and be targeting someone else by now and won't be giving this poor soul another thought.

Other refuse collectors, in Glasgow, got death threats after the crash. I hope those people have moved on.

Entirely agree. In fact naming him has absolutely no purpose whatsoever and was totally unnecessary. I would however like to believe there is massive support for this guy not just in Glasgow or even Scotland, but the entire country.

There should be no fear of reprisals though i know there are always the few 'sicko's around anxious to make a name for themselves.

Well if that's true i hope they haven't had the chance to 'move on'. I hope the Police have tracked them down and dragged them before the Courts.

Me too. Poor man will have enough on his plate as it is without having to look over his shoulder every five minutes. I can't imagine the burden he is carrying around.

It alright for 'celebrities' and the rich and powerful to get super injunctions but this poor bloke's identity is published for all to see.

He has to live with this terrible tragedy for the rest of his life.

Our gutter press at their very best yet again.

I agree with you 100% but I am surprised it took the gutter press this long to publish it. It would be fantastic if a mass boycott could be arranged of the Daily Record/Sunday Mail and other rags to show them how out of order they are here.

I hope this man isn't driven to suicide or harming himself over a tragic ACCIDENT.

I'm not sure why anyone thought he would remain anonymous. He was involved in a fatal accident. There is no mechanism for protecting his identity. The council said that THEY would not release his name and that's fine it's not their place to but there are aspects of the accident report that will legally be public including his name.
As most people I feel sorry for him but his identity was never going to remain secret.

Just because there was nothing to stop the media revealing his name and address doesn't mean they should just go ahead and reveal it anyway. But then again that would be expecting a level of decency and consideration that has long disappeared.

Yet you decided to put his name on here?

Worse still, they named his daughter too, and went to her property to get comment. Gutter press of the highest order.

Spot on.

Don't people think we should wait to hear what is said at the FAI before either condemning or totally exonerating the driver for his actions on that day.
