Our nephew is in Cumnock, Ayrshire, for Christmas with his Scots wife's family.
I called his wife 10 minutes ago, and she said that they went into Glaasgow, and were in Queen St. on Saturday, both she and I are thinking of all those involved in this terrible thing.

Yes. At work, at home, getting no answers from mobiles, or even unaware. Their pain just beginning.

Where did you hear he had a heart attack? The news is just saying he took ill

The spokesman on Sky News a couple of minutes ago said it was not thought to be a criminal incident.

Poor bloke, he saw people crying, screaming and panicking - really do we need to know all this! Is this really appropriate for the news to be broadcasting! ”

Details being released are too graphic, imho. Some families won't be aware their loved ones are involved

If it is a heart attack I think we'll need to have a think about certain people being allowed to drive on our roads.

Anyone with a heart condition or who is overweight could be at danger of being banned for the safety of others.

Why do you say that? Police believe it was an accident.

Indeed. I just edited my post as I think the quote from the witness that I posted was too graphic. TBH we can use our imaginations about how bad it would be

as tragic as this incident is, that is a knee jerk reaction to something that is thankfully quite rare

You don't necessarily have to be overweight or have a known heart condition to suffer a heart attack. Many fit people have died through undiagnosed heart problems.

Yep lets trust the guy sitting at home looking at Google maps rather than the emergency services actually at the scene....

Oh for heaven's sake, my OH has had 3 heart attacks and is allowed to drive. We can't ban people from driving because they could potentially cause an accident - pretty much anyone could take ill at the wheel.

I think in the future it will be irrelevant anyway as cars will be more automated.

Who said the driver was overweight or had a heart condition ? Heart attacks happen to healthy people sometimes . A friend of my brothers kept him self fit and ate healthily he died of a massive heart attack ..

There is a little bit of truth in this, I have worked on the railways a good few years and I see a lot of obese blokes get regularly tested to make sure they can hear and see well enough to be safe on the tracks but never get checked for heart health. cholestrol levels or anything related to their obesity! And of course while they get food expenses, they frequent KFC's and greasy spoons all the more

Sorry, but as a Glaswegian I can tell you the distance between the Museum of Modern Art and the Station is not that far. Couple of hundred meters and a straight road - what is being said by the people on site is perfectly reasonable
