Sky News have just played a video taken on a phone of people running around screaming and crowding around bodies on the ground, the amount of screams and anguished cries were awful, I wondered what the heck it was at first as I was looking at my laptop

I don't know who I am more angry with - the news for showing uneccesary upsetting footage of peoples distress or the nasty piece of work whose first priority to run around filming it all to give to the press and probably youtube!

Did Sky News really have to show that footage just there?

The screams were awful.

Great minds think alike Nethwen! I don't think I have ever seen the media be so ghoulish as they are with this, not even 9/11 on the day was as sick and twisted as this coverage seems to be

Yup - that video on Sky was very distressing - the screams.

Horrendous accident, it would seem.

Maybe they needed a disaster at Christmas to salivate over.

Some people should just STFU. You're top of the list.

This thread backs up the theory that a lot of serious nutters hang out on DS - congratulations you have just been added to that list you absolute muppet.

Terrible and a year after that helicopter accident as well. That poor driver when he recovers and finds out what has happened.

And it went all the way down that street to the end without anyone in control?

It was horrible, Jules. I am shaking from it. Imagine any relatives and loved ones of those affected by this tragedy who may have been watching all of that.

Dustcarts usually just have one person in the cab while the others do the bins at the back, if the guy immediately pushed on the accelerator, there's no way the others would have been able to catch it.

Easily, as a vehicles steering is largely self centring, all it needed was to be in a reasonably straight trajectory. Out of control =\= equal weaving all over the place.

That's what I thought, imagine seeing or hearing the cries of someone you know on it!

Perhaps he was somewhat in control.
You need to give this a bit more thought.

Glasgow will grieve, Glasgow will mourn, Glasgow will get over this just like we do everything else. Glaswegians are strong. Tonight we are a city bound together in the face of tragedy.

This is very sad news. My condolences to the family and friends of the dead and injured. I am so sorry for this tragedy.

I'd always be looking to make things safer for people.

To say "it's just an accident let's chalk it up and move on" is not acceptable to me.

Human life is precious and I never just accept the unnecessary loss of it.

Oh no. It's awful whatever the cause, but this is so avoidable.

If he was out for the count and hit the accelerator it's probably not that big a distance to travel - I guess I could cover that distance quick enough if I floored my car - also he could have been alone, in the town I live I often saw bin wagon drivers dropping off the the rest of his team near town centre (i'd be on my dinner break) and he'd carry on alone to the depot to take the lorry back.

It would have already been up the kerb at the college to hit someone, then back onto the road to straighten up?
