The police have been quite clear in saying he's been arrested.

If they were just acting on a report, he would be interviewed under caution.

I don't know what to name of this today, there's a very high chance this is claim is false and malicious. He'd need to be incredibly stupid/arrogant to drive in his position.

The fact he was arrested for it suggests they have more evidence than the mere word of one person.

I think the police would have had some sort of evidence to allow it to get this far.

I suppose so but he hasn't been charged yet though or has he?

He may well be all of those things but can anyone be that stupid????

Was he caught driving or was he reported to the police for driving?

If he was driving while banned the man is completely devoid of any reasoning to the tragedy he has left in his wake or maybe he simply doesn't give a toss.

Hes quit, only minutes before he was due to be fired by disciplinary panel.

Wonder if he's going to apply for another driving job. Given the exposure this FAI has had, I expect not.

Seems nothing touches Mr Clarke and that includes emotions.

Is that so he didn't lose his pension?

It's no comfort for the families who lost loved ones becacause a rather arrogant nasty ignorant man chose to put his financial welfare before the safety of others, I wish him bad health and a miserable retirement.

The most hated man in Glasgow I'm told, lost friends because of his arrogance.

I'm hardly surprised to hear this. Clarke has never shown any remorse and will stop at nothing to deprive the families of justice.

He's gutless without shame.

We rarely agree on anything but I'm right with you on this one. He seems devoid of anything approaching a conscience.

Spot on - the bloke is simply a disgusting example of a human being.

He has no remorse, shame or empathy for the grieving families at all - and how he has the sheer arrogance to still live in Glasgow is totally beyond me.

He should be in jail.

This miserable cowardly specimen has a huge gut, but very little remorse or morality.
His employment history and conduct do all point to him being a good square chap though.

Does him quitting limit any investigation by his employer regarding how he got the job in the first place? (As I presume he need not appear before any internal enquiry). Or had he already appeared? The news item implied that they had completed their investigations. Does anyone know if that was the case? Have the council issued any sort of statement to that effect.

If he did lie on his application, then I hope that the council take the matter as far as they can. I presume that would be limited to the civil courts, but still better than nothing.

Also, if anyone else was complicit in him getting a job that he wasn't fit for, they should be brought to justice also.

Edit. And if Glasgow Council have a hiring policy based on "who you know" at the expense of your ability/competence/safety, then that should be exposed and ended before the same happens again.

Isnt it a funny old world that this menace kills and injures so many then crashes into a wall and comes out the other end without a scratch....then gets a two week rest in hospital where they found nothng wrong with him in their tests..... I wonder if he ever browses the internet for photos of the funerals and the peoples lives he cut short at Xmas.... doubt it..

"The letter notes that Mr Clarke underwent "extensive investigation" at hospital, including brain scans, after the bin lorry crash.

It states that the most likely diagnosis for Mr Clarke was neurocardiogenic syncope (also known as vasovagal syncope) and notes there was "no specific treatment
". "

Although not a solid diagnosis they haven't actually said there was / is "nothing wrong with him" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...-west-33702639

Statement from Harry Clarke...

Quote:
“"I wish to make clear that it was always my intention to answer all questions put to me during the fatal accident inquiry.

"The only reason I did not was as a direct result of legal advice given to me at the time by those representing me.

"I am aware that the families of the victims of the incident will have many unanswered questions.

"I will try to answer all of those questions to the best of his ability at the point I am able to do so.

"I understand that the impact of this event on me is irrelevant when compared to the loss the families of the victims have suffered. I wish to unreservedly apologise for my role in this tragic event."”
