I put all my 2yo grandson's photos as slideshows and a few videos and a lot of music tracks onto Sony Vegas movie studio HD. The file size I think is 1850 kb and the length of the movie is about 105 mins. It rendered in about 8 hours but then it wouldn't burn to disc as it said the file size was too large. The discs I'm using are 120 min and 4.7 GB. Why is this? Anyone help? D I need to cut the content back, and if so, how far?

That is 120m at standard quality mode. If you told the software to render at High Quality mode you might only get 60m worth of video on the disk.

The file size of the original may only be a few MB in size but if you convert to DVD Video then the file size on disk can increase substantially and the quality setting will have a direct impact on that. Higher quality = more disk space needed.

So first thing is to check what you have told Vegas to do and if it is set to the highest quality mode set it to a lower mode and see if that works.

It may be worth buying a few dual layer DVD R's then you will have almost 9 GB.

Thanks again for the advice, I split the file in two and it let me copy and paste one half, so I was able to make two discs from it, I also had to set it to lower mode. Happy Days!!
