Push Bullet - Desktop phone notifications
Anyone use this?
I have been using it for the better part of a year now, it has come on leaps and bounds since it first launched. Sadly due to the way iPhones are developed the desktop features don't work on them. If you have an Android phone you just need to download the app on your phone sign in and do the same on desktop. They have just upgraded it to allow initiation of sms from the desktop, prior to now one could only reply. Its fairly simple in nature, say you receive a notification for gmail, click on the desktop popup and it will launch the browser to take you directly to it, and in the process mark it as read. You can push files to it, however they seem only small. https://www.pushbullet.com/ |

I still don't understand why this isn't built in as standard.
IOT is too far behind at the moment. iPhone and Mac OS X probably has the best native implementation of this so far but it's not great. I've been saying for years that I should be able to natively get notifications from my phone on my PC and vice versa. Also being able to access files on both + vice versa, be able to beam data (e.g a sat nav location) from one to the other, be able to watch a video on my pc and resume on my mobile instantly. A unified OS or walled garden system isn't needed to fulfil the above but it'll be interesting to see what Apple, Microsoft, Google and Blackberry come up with in the future. |

The reason pushbullet works is down to google having a range of APIs which allow it to work effectively. Have to be fair the recent updates to the desktop and mobile app have proved useful. |

Tried this app but found it buggy and unreliable. Its a good idea but caused some problems so I uninstalled it. Shame really.

The app "MyPhoneExplorer" does this, and I find it excellent.
