Hi.
I have been doing a lot of research with regard to castrating my 5 month old (he's just turned 5 months), Labradoodle when he is six months old, as recommended by my vet.
However, my research seems to point to a 50-50 chance of positive and negative consequences after castration - and I am not convinced he will be better off; in fact I feel he will be worse off without his man parts.
I really don't want to castrate him as I feel the heath risks of an intact dog are negligible according to my extensive research.
I have owned many intact male dogs (Mainly English Springer Spaniels) in the past and I have no problems with them whatsoever.
I won't be breeding him.
I am 99% certain I am keeping Maximilian (Max), intact, but what are others' views on this.
I had no hesitation in neutering my female Springerdoodle and I am convinced it was the best thing to do for her medically, and for social reasons.
Christmas Greetings.
Thanks.
