Samsung Galaxy S5 - £279 at Vodafone from tomorrow.
They had a deal for the LG G2 on Black Friday for £150 (not sure how many people got that), but now they have the above deal here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sams...096367?aui=298
Also are all Vodafone phones unlocked? |

Should work with a Sainsburys Sim too.
Even though it is a 1 day offer that price is about right for a top smartphone. |

I used an app from Play store to unlock my EE S5, was less than £20. No issues.

Yeah I got the phone today but I am interested in unlocking it. The guy did say £20 but I left to think about sim only deals. The Vodafone ones I was shown were not very good. They don't give much data and I found a better deal on three that is cheaper.
Also how long would it take to unlock a Samsung galaxy S5? Certainly the cheapest way to buy an S5 right now buying the S5 at Vodafone with a vodafone payg sim with £0.00 credit and then unlocking it. You took the vodafone payg sim away from the store to top up the phone yourself (or not) at home rather than it getting an initial topup in store? I will be going to vodafone on Saturday to get my new £279 phone just to unlock it at the nearest unlockers. |

Vodafone can unlock in store for a cost of £20.
Just ask at time of purchase or go back if you already have it. |

Oh yeah I got confused. See I have a standard sim at the moment. It has been a while since I upgraded phones and I have not had a smartphone before so this is my first one. Well the S5 needs a micro sim and the guy in the store did say something about he could give me a micro sim and i'll get to keep my number but then wanted me to choose another 12 month deal with Vodafone. I don't want to stay with Vodafone (I did hear about people buying the S5 at the £279 price to unlock it for other networks) as they have such small amounts of data and the highest they offer is 1GB for £17 per month but on Three I can get unlimited data on £15 a month. In the end I asked if I could just buy the phone (along with the top up as he said you had to buy that with the phone) and have time to think about which deal. He said to go back Saturday as that is the next day they are open. Right now he gave me a micro sim that is not activated so I can turn on the S5 and change settings etc.
Oh right so if I go back in and pay £20 to unlock it it'll take about 3 days? Is the only way to check if it is unlocked is to use another network's sim? Thanks for the advice much appreciated. Why not just bring your existing vodafone PAYG or 1 month rolling sim in if you are already a PAYG or a rolling sim customer with vodafone. Virgin allow you to top up with an existing PAYG sim if you bring it in store. You will already have a smartphone with a vodafone sim in and you are only talking one more month with vodafone if you are PAYG or rolling sim. Surely Vodafone can cut your standard sim down to a microsim, and you can get it fitted into an adapter. |

That will be really annoying if you need to top up in store. That's scotched my idea of taking away the phone and sim without intending to top up. Never mind.

Existing payg customers can buy a new handset without topup |

wtf
this actually has me worried, the guy who posted that offer reveals there is 2 phones with the same name but are different phones. I ordered my s5 with the understanding the custom rom I use will work on it, well it wont if it is this "newer" variant. |

Also to advise if the Vodafone SIM prices look too much Vodafone do a lot of discounts for working for certain companies. I use to get 20% off and also I believe that NHS staff get the same.
I left them for Three even though I got the discount. |

Oh I should have said I am not a pay as you go customer, I am pay monthly with Vodafone who has not upgraded for 20 months. He did say he could give me a new sim but he wanted me to choose a new Vodafone deal. That would mean me being stuck with them for another year. I found a better deal at three for cheaper than the one he was suggesting. I just need the phone unlocked, my PAC code and to sort out the deal with three. I heard you can get the phone unlocked online by putting the IMEI code on the
Vodafone website. I would have thought as you are already a customer with vodafone you did not have to take out a new contract with the samsung galaxy s5 and you just insert the sim from the old phone. Or so they assume anyway. They would not be to know you aren't intending to stay with Vodafone and you just use your galaxy s5 with 3 after unlocking it. |

Vodafone just sell the standard G900F, only EE sell the G901F in the UK, to the best of my knowledge. |

Also are all Vodafone phones unlocked? Just get it insured. Maybe yourself as well. Both against accidental damage.
