Vodafone launches Winter sale!
Vodafone have launched some excellent deals this year in order to push their 4G subscriber numbers up.
Vodafone RED is Vodafone's ultimate tariff that combines Unlimited Minutes and Texts with loads of ultrafast 4G data and a choice of Now TV, Sky Sports Mobile, Netflix or Spotify to enjoy at no extra cost for up to 12 months. And that's not all, with Vodafone RED you get access to 3 months unlimited data test drive and Vodafone's 5 star care. Combine the above with Vodafone Euro/International Traveller, 3 months of Now TV movies and 500mb of UK Wi-Fi and you get an excellent package. Starting today, customers purchasing a SIM Only plan before February 2nd will get up to 25% off their line rental. Vodafone's RED SIM Only tariffs start at just £15.30pm for Unlimited Calls/Texts and 1GB of 4G data. You can triple that data to 3GB for just £4.50 extra. £24.30 gives you 6GB, £27.20 gives you 10GB and you can get a whopping 20GB of data for just £30pm. Don't forget cashback up to £60 or 20% off via the employee advantage scheme! It seems Vodafone are going all out to meet their target of 2 million 4G subscribers before the end of the year. So far, Vodafone's winter sale seems to be more cost effective than EE, O2 and Three. Three offer Unlimited data with 4GB tethering for £25pm with Unlimited calls and texts. An extra £2 on Vodafone or EE gives you 10GB tetherable data and now an extra £5 on Vodafone gives you 20GB tetherable data. Combine this with Vodafone's pay as you go deals and you can get a Galaxy S5 or HTC One for under £300 to pair with the SIM Only plan above. Thoughts? |

Gee whiz, a whole gigabyte of data. Good to see that they've copied something 3 used to do in offering free Spotify though.
Still wouldn't sign up to them while their 4G coverage is non-existent and their somewhat rare 3G network continues to perform very badly where I am. They're a Lada network charging Rolls-Royce prices. |

They're a Lada network charging Rolls-Royce prices. One of my friends recently switched to Vodafone from Three and has found it much more reliable and gets 4G everywhere he needs to. Vodafone have always been very expensive and in my opinion they offer little value for myself. I'm not interested in the entertainment stuff they offer and their 3G network isn't good enough for me as I'd prefer to have fast 3G/4G everywhere and not just fast 4G. Maybe when we get to 98% 4G coverage and VoLTE then my mind will change but not enough 4G coverage yet. At this point in time I'm sticking with EE and Three. This thread is just to inform in regards to the winter sale. I know a number of people are interested in higher data caps and Vodafone seem to be responding to that by offering the highest tetherable data cap out of any network so far on a SIM Only plan. This is probably due to the poor uptake in 4G that they've seen, so they're trying to give consumers and business's a reason to join Vodafone again. |

The 20GB one sounds very interesting! Is interesting that networks are starting to offer higher data allowances now. Though apart from "deals" like this, they are still fairly expensive.

20% Employee Advantage discount takes it to £24pm 30% Staff discount take it down to £21pm If you're able to take advantage of any of the above (and cashback is the easiest way that everyone can take advantage) then It's quite a compelling deal. |

Not sure how cashback or VEA (employee advantage) works on these new SIMO deals but I can find out on boxing day, I do know that staff discount is not applicable as it is already a discounted plan
That's disappointing then. I know cashback will work because the website says it will. |

This is interesting - im on the pre-sale 1GB/£17 tariff, but it looks like i can jump a tier and get 6 months Spotify and an extra 2GB for a couple of quid. Will save me a tidy sum on the Spotify premium alone. Time to get on the blower!

I wish vodafone would get a move on upgrading the coverage in Stoke as all the main cities around us have fairly decent 4g now and people seem to say good things about the vodafone 4g network.
I guess it will come however seems Stoke is the lost 4g City of the N.west / Midlands |

I'm sure your ITV region's local news has the main stories from Manchester rather than Birmingham. Or are you living in an area that receives(d) Granada and Central/ATV? |

![]() Its probably this "bit in the middle" that means in these mobile roll outs we neither fit here or there. EE and Three have some naff form of 4g off a handful of masts but other than that the area is like the 3rd world! |

I could get a friend's and family discount with Vodafone but I've never been tempted! Still any promotion in a desperate bid to meet targets can't be a bad. Good find

Well we have 4G LTE here in Derby... Except where I live! The speeds are fairly impressive in the city centre so I hope it isn't too long a wait for you now.

I took out a 24 months contract in September and was offered 3 months unlimited data which was suppose to end 20 December, but last week i ported my number from 3 and now my unlimited trial end date shows march 2015, i guess its a loophole if you don't want to keep number and keep porting number to the network, you keep getting trial 3 months extended.

It's definetely coming in new year late October Vodafone/O2 got permission from the council to replace 15-20 masts across the city for 4G rollout. So expect 4G appearing Q1.
I wonder how far ahead they put the planning apps in? |

Still no 4G in Bristol, Voda or o2 but It looks like Voda have 1 cell of 4G in Cardiff now so that’s south Wales covered.

Clewsy- It was myself that stated that the rollout in Stoke and Staffordshire is being done by O2 as part of the Cornerstone arrangement, They did not consider Stoke to be as higher priority as Derbyshire,Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire so they did those places first. The reasoning behind the decision is unknown but is likely to be down to the amount of subscribers in the area, current state of the network and how easy the council are to deal with. As some can be difficult with road closures and planning permission
But as a previous poster has said Stoke is due to be done early in 2015 so both O2 and Vodafone will have 4G where as present there is just a small section around the call centre area which I believe is done by small cells in and around the building but has I am told in December been upgraded to LTE-A using both 800&2600 with reported speeds of 200mb plus |

Vodafone's coverage map says it all;
"There is no 4G work planned for this area 4G has not arrived in this area yet. We're committed to providing 98% indoor coverage across the UK in the next few years." Might consider Vodafone "in the next few years". Less so if they buy Sky. |

if the term loads is used then the data should start at 20GB of 4G data.1GB / 3GB/ 6GB/10GB/20GB could hardly be described as loads. 8/16/25/50/75/100 would be more deserving of the loads tag |
