I have literally never been so happy about anything in my entire life as I am about Clara staying. We had so many rumours about her leaving/not leaving and I really thought she was leaving, especially when she got old. I was hollering at my TV but had to take it all back when I realised she was staying. I am the happiest person in the world right now. Love Clara, love Jenna and love her and Peter's relationship. Totally buzzing

I'm ecstatic she's staying. Peter and Jenna are my favourite team and I thought nobody could ever touch Tennant and Tate. Clara has grown with 12 and they feed off each other so wonderfully. Cannot wait to see how they further develop in series 9.

I am surprised and overwhelmingly happy that she is staying. The end of that episode made me realise that any curmudgeonly feelings were totally insignificant...because I actually care!

I think the complaint that the focus on Clara in Series 8 has been too strong are a bit overdone, though I do believe the Doctor needs more to do next series. And on that note, it is surely best to keep the current companion rather than focusing on another new one.

I look forward to Series 9 so much more now. Last Christmas has put me on a Who-high

I'm glad there's some cheer left

You'll never find so much poison aimed towards the idea of the cast and crew sticking around for more than 1-and-a-half series than with Doctor Who

Though, if we're not getting a second companion, I hope The Doc & Clara can just get on with Time & Space in the Box for S9 She doesn't need to be toyed around with again for the sake of changing the dynamic every few episodes,

@Jenna Coleman... If you're reading this, don't let it go to ur head but do I hope u're feeling the love!
Us Whovians are a tough crowd but your Clara has won us over!

While I can certainly add my own voice to the chorus of those who are thrilled Clara's staying, I can't say I was thrilled about tonight's episode... Pretty naff wasn't it?

Pleased she's staying too. She's a terrific actress and do like the character and how she works with the Doctor. Yeah she's flawed, but that makes her interesting.

On a possIbly more shallow note, she's an extremely attractive person. Some shots in an episode, there were a few last night but a particular example that springs to mind is when she's talking to the young Doctor in Hide, I'm just thinking gawd, she looks *beautiful* there. Very expressive eyes and the cutest nose.

Shallow? It's the basis of our continuing existence as a species. Extrapolating, it is the only reason we have eyes, TV and Doctor Who. Without it we would have been one of natures failed experiments. I see nowt shallow in that, seems rather a grand point to me.

I like Clara as a character, but I hope she doesn't overshadow the Doctor as much this time.

I have a feeling that there's a correlation between viewer perception of the companion, and the arrival of a new Doctor.

Rose was an extremely popular character off the back of Series 1, and the majority of criticism aimed towards her character came at Series 2 when there was a new Doctor.

Similarly, opinions on Amy Pond were a lot more divisive in Series 5 and then seemed to pick up tremendously in Series 6... in other words when there wasn't a 'new Doctor' any more.

Again with Clara, the biggest criticism concerning her character in Series 8 is seldom aimed at the actress or even the way the character is portrayed - but rather how she is written in terms of focus. I think you get a slight element of trepidation from the writers when a new Doctor comes along - it's suddenly a lot easier to write for the companion even if they're new themselves (as was the case with Amy) and so we get a bit of a heavy-handed focus on them.

As such, as much as I love Clara to pieces and am glad she's staying, I'm also hoping Series 9 will give Capaldi's Doctor a bit more to do. A few more defining moments for him hopefully.

I think she should have left, i'm finding her really boring now, the looks thing has totally worn off and she's just plain boring, the whole show is going to stagnate if they are not careful. we should be seeing a new assistant by now.

I'm very happy she is staying. I think Clara is an interesting character if not always that likeable and Jenna is fantastic in the role. Plus I feel the Capaldi/Coleman dynamic is up their with Tennant/Tate as a top Tardis team.
