I always saw it as Amy never really liked let alone loved Rory but as The Doctor didn't want her in that way he would have to do and lets face it who else would put up with her.

But she seemed to want to punish Rory because he wasn't The Doctor.

I have always said though if Rory treated Amy the way she treated him there would be complaints from viewers and domestic abuse charities.

Even my Mum who watched a bit who was a batted wife said Amy was nothing more than a domestic abuser
Interesting post.
The fact that your mum experienced domestic abuse and saw Amy as an abusier, says a lot.
And now you mention it, yes, it's possible that her aggression is meant to have stemmed from the anger of having been rejected by the doctor.

Amy was a good companion but I hated the way she used to berate, belittle and humiliate Rory!

Just once, when she slapped him round the back of the head and said "Rory, you idiot!", he should've grabbed her by her stupid ginger locks and slammed her against a wall. Then, pushing his face right up against hers, he could snarl;
"Don't you dare EVER slap me again, tramp! I know you betrayed me! I know you tried to sleep with the Doctor on the night before our wedding, Scottish strumpet! Do you think I waited 2,000 years for THIS?!! Do you know how long that is?! Do you know how many women I could've had in that time?! Two-freakin-Millennia and you treat me like sh**! Well, I'm not having it anymore! Do ya hear me?! You better start showing me some long overdue respect or I swear I'll put you back in that box!

I reckon Amy would become nicer after that... or leave him. Hard to say.
^I'd enjoy seeing that!
Rory deserved better. I actually thought he and Clara were going to get together in 'Asylum of the Daleks' (before the reveal). But of course Amy 'took him back'.

The slap is important because it wakes the doctor up,gives him a jolt.

Unfortunately Moffat's personal little pecccadillos seem to surface much too frequently in his scripts. It's obvious from the way that he writes his female/male characters. It's rancid and unsavoury and really has no place in a family TV show.
BIB: Unfortunately, while I may agree with the general point, I think you're out of order making such a personal remark about SM (unless you're privy to the man's intimate preferences).

Stretching it? Just a tiny bit?

No she's not; she's a truly lovely oval headed angel.
The only 'demon' is the ginger laddette.

Whether it's his own personal tastes or just writing tastes, I agree that there are recurring things that feature in his scripts, including the whole 'woman who uses sexual prowess/appeal for power' thing. Seeing as Clara hasn't been doing that yet, I'm glad she's staying on.

Just watched Matt's last three episodes and three women slapped him I think (Tasha, Clara, and hologram River tried). Maybe Queen Elisabeth slapped 10 too (?)

She's got the control freak aspect though...
