Can digital recorders videos be transferred to laptop?

Hi. I previously had a TV DVD recorder, from which I could copy DVDs/DVRs onto my laptop. I now need a replacement and I'm deciding between getting another DVD recorder and a hard drive recorder. Looking through Argos' product Q&A section for one hard drive recorder (with 1 HDMI output, 1 SCART socket, 1 USB port and Ethernet connection), it's stated as not being capable of recorder-to-laptop (or any other device) transfer. Are there any devices which do allow this?

Thanks.

The Humax Freeview+ pvrs allow export of SD recordings to a USB storage device. You can also persuade them to export HD recordings.

HDR FOX T2, HDR-1800T and HDR-2000T.

If you wan't to burn SD recordings to DVD you can do this on any computer with a DVD burner however a cheap media player (about £20.00) can be used to play them back on most any TV.

I have a DigitalStream DHR-8205 and I copy TV and radio programmes to and from my computer.
The HD programmes are encrypted by I like to save them to my computer as a back-up. The first HDD in my PVR died and was replaced. The PVR looks like a network drive to my computer when I use Samba.
