What are you on about Amy went a few years ago
![]() Bit harsh about the acting aspect she wasn't that bad (GOTG is proof of how good she can be) but I do agree about how unlikeble Amy was, couldn't wait for her to go, why is she so popular I have no idea (same with Series 2 Rose really). Anyways on topic: Clara is great and like I said before I'm glad she's staying. ![]() Quote:
Speaking of Clara Oswald, she was brave, caring, intelligent and funny from the off, really. She was kind of defined as the Impossible Girl and seen that way via the Doctor's perception, but if in hindsight you watch, say, Hide or Rings of Akhaten, I honestly can't see what people would object to about the character in these stories.
She can also be bossy, vain and a self admitted control freak, but who wants a flawless character as companion. That would be dull. That could mean a possible cypher. Thought Clara was particularly effective in Day Of....loved her little chat with Hurt's Doctor; Time Of...and now Last Christmas. The scenes with Peter C from the hug in the sleigh on were really great. The throwback to Clara helping the Eleventh to pull the cracker in TOTD, etc. The Danny Pink relationship was messy. Often didn't show her in a good light, but things can get messy. She made mistakes. She's human. I don't like the slapping stuff and do agree that some of the characterisation has been inconsistent though. Think Jenna's been acting her socks off and her lovely nose is just a bonus. That goes some way to explaining why I'm *personally* pleased we get some more Capaldi and Coleman. ![]() Especially about her flaws, really you've got to give characters their flaws it's what makes them interesting and relateble! Would anyone really want a goodie-2-shoes Mary Sue? Just don't go overboard with their flaws and make them unlikwble! (I'm looking at you Amy and Rose 2!) |

How long have Clara and the doctor known each other ?. MIght find out in the new series. Clara is doing what Sarah Jane.and Amy did before her. Loves the doctor waits forhim. If she lives long enough will she waste her life ?. Sarah adopted Luke and Skye. But never found lasting love. Amy chose Rory but had to live and die in the past. Will Clara have to make some difficult choices in S9 ?. Being the doctors companion is not easy.

Clara was an absolute dream last series, incredible every week, but I think that would've been a sensible place to finish. "Always leave them wanting more." I think the Ponds stayed a little too long - those episodes at the start of S7 feel so tacked on - and the more they play the "this is the end" card the less affecting it is when it finally comes. Looking likely they'll make the same mistake with Clara.
The Ponds apparently left in The God Complex, The Wedding of River Song and The Angels Take Manhattan. Clara has, so far, apparently left in Kill the Moon, Death in Heaven, and they heavily toyed with the idea at the end of Last Christmas, too. When she actually leaves, she'll be beating the Ponds at least 4-3! Her departure, at the end of Last Christmas, should've been beautiful. Affecting, tragic, mirrored The Time of the Doctor beautifully with the cracker and the aging... but, she didn't leave, and they've played those cards, now! I'm sure she'll turn in some brilliant performances in series 9, but I know that if she left in the Christmas Special she'd have left a hero. Rose never left better than Doomsday. |

Her best episode was "Asylum of the Daleks" for me. For the rest of her season 7 episodes, I was just waiting for the resolution to the 'impossible girl' story.
Season 8 seemed a rather desperate attempt to shoe-horn a life/family/job/romance onto something of a two-dimensional character. I can't see how she's going to bring anything new to Season 9. I think the show's going to stumble. Bad call! |

Got a theory missy might try and get to the doctor through Clara inte s9 finale. Moffat said he has a big shock/ twist in store for the penultimate episode. If missy or a lackey of hers hurts or kills Clara doctor will go nuts. Do we really want to see him lose his temper ?. Wrath of a time lord can be pretty explosive. Missy did "give". Clara to him as test. Maybe in her sick warped mind taking her from him will be another.

Knowing how Steven Moffatt writes, I would imagine there is an ongoing storyline/arc that necessitated Clara remaining in the show. Probably something he set up ages ago that wouldn't work with a new companion.
