S5 mini or z1 compact?!?
Hi,
Sorry to be one of those people but I'm struggling to decide which phone to buy. My Samsung galaxy S5 was stolen and I'm stuck in a contract so I need to buy a new SIM free phone. My budget is basically £270ish. I'm looking at getting a smaller handset than the S5 as I was getting sick of the large S5, and can't decide between the s5 mini or the Sony Z1 compact. The Z1 compact looks like the better phone, I'm not fussed about the samsungs gimmicks (fingerprint, heartbeat sensor etc), and I want a camera which will rival the S5s. However, I'm hesitant to go for the Z1 as its older, and I've seen a couple of reviews questioning reliability after a few months and claiming sony are poor at replacing faulty handsets etc. So, which phone should I buy?! Thanks |

If you're hesitant, then you ought to get the S5 Mini.
I have the Z1 Compact, although it is older, by a few months, it 'wipes the floor' compared to the S5 Mini http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gala...ew-1116p10.php I got my Z1 Compact in August. The only issues i had was a Bluetooth one after a few months, but a re-install of the software, via Sonys PC Companion fixed it. Then there was a fault with the camera locking the phone up occasionally, but Sony released an updated bit of software for the phone in November which cured that. http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xpe...pact/software/ I haven't had to replace my handset, so cannot comment on that though. All in all, currently, i am very happy with my Z1 Compact and at the moment it works great. Hope this helps

Depending on where you live and what network you should be able to pick up an S5 from a Vodafone store for around the budget you mention.
Would be such a shame to settle for less. |

I'm another happy Z1 Compact user. The camera is excellent.
Build quality is good and being waterproof meant I was happy to use maps in the rain when I was walking on Boxing Day, which stopped me getting totally lost. |
