O2 4G is good performance (those who actually have it)

I rang O2 to get my PAC today, and of course they offered me a deal for an S5, which is much better than EE have on their website.

The problem is, O2 3g coverage at my parents town is non existant, and a my home address speeds aren't great.

My sister on EE can get 18mbit/sec at my address and even 6mbit/sec where my parents live. EE just seems a much more highly invested network.

Thoughts?

Are you able to make calls in those areas on EE?
Does O2 have 4G in those areas?

If you can't make calls then staying with O2 is pointless as you can't make calls over 4G. If you can make calls then check with someone you know or on the coverage map if O2 get good 4G in those areas.

Otherwise check EE's signal then move to them.

In my experience O2 4G speeds are quite good, I average around 10-20Mbps. For comparison on EE I average around 30.

I do find the areas that O2 have covered (quite a large amount of Hampshire now actually) have better 4G coverage than EE but EE has more coverage in the UK overall.

I get about 49/50 speeds on O2 👍

My sister can use her phone for sms/calls as well yes.

The problem I have is I see O2 as a gamble, because I know their 3g is way below what it should be, not a good indicator for 4g,not sure what to do.

Also O2 offered the same terms as what I was looking at with EE which is 2g data and unlimited calls. Although EE are offering on top of that free 080x calls.

truthfully their 4G network works well where it is, but its a bit strange, their strategy is different to the other networks.

At my home I can get 30Mbps but in the town centre 4G is non existent, where was Three and EE both cover parts of my town centre with 4G.

Even in 4G areas when not on 4G, I find myself on Edge more than 3G which is the opposite from EE.

Could you confirm what your asking? Your thread title makes no sense.

I was asking people's opinions of O2 4g performance and what they recommend I do.

Anyway EE have accepted my order, so I made my choice now.

I do still have a three sim which I have been paying for the past half year but it is pretty much never used, so the combination of cancelling the three sim and O2 will pay for 95% of my new EE bill which I have a new top of the line phone for as well.

Ok. It reads like your saying you knew 02 has good performance already.

You said "02 is good performance" (for those who actually have it")

That is a statement which says they already have good performance.

If you wanted to ask a question you could have said: For a those that have it, does 02 4G offer good performance"?

Even if you added an a you're still stating that 02 has a good performance which is not what you're asking.

^^^^^

Also to be clear to MTUK1 and others, the quoted EE speeds are 3G.

The whole South Hampshire area where I live is covered by O2 4G and it works excellently for me
