Vodafone - "Fastest Mobile Broadband"
Naturally some of you will spit feathers at the thought.... Quote:
As mentioned earlier we’ve also decided to start keeping track of mobile operator performance and these results have been pasted below. It’s worth pointing out that none of the mobile operators separate their 3G and 4G networks by IP address range(s), which means that we can only reflect combined performance scores. http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php...s-q4-2014.htmlThe Fastest Mobile Broadband Operators – Download Speed 1. Vodafone – 13.78Mbps 2. EE (T-Mobile & Orange) – 13.26Mbps 3. O2 – 10.69Mbps 4. Three UK – 9.12Mbps I have been saying for some time that Vodafone is starting to gain ground on EE. To be fair to EE generally they are always in the top 2. EE has been burning rubber with its 4G rollout, it genuinely looks as though no expense has been spared. What is interesting is the length Vodafone is going to, to get on an even keel, they are awash with the green stuff, wo can probably out spend EE many times over. I would like to see how things change come christmas 2015, I suspect we will be looking at two huge behemoths (BT/EE & Vodafone) going to war in the quad play market. What I take from the article is that broadband and to some extent 4G has improved massively and will continue to do so for Vodafone and EE. Though it does leave O2 and Three out in the cold somewhat. Thoughts? |

I would say this is more to do with EE's peering to the various servers than Vodafone being faster. The Ookla app now defines wether it's 3G or 4G.
You just have to look within the Rootmetrics app and hit speed comparison over whatever city you're in and it shows EE as the faster network both with peak and average despite the large number of half speed tarrifs.... Edinburgh EE Edinburgh Voda |

Hopefully There will still have competitive prices, a very high quality 3G DC-HSDPA network with 4G in large majority's of the UK and should have about 15M subscribers.
02 can die a death for me, network is so slow and pricing is rip-off. |

Three haven't even got 10M yet never mind 15M.

I did think Three were very close to 10M..I hope 15M is a target, along with all masts at least 3G DC-HSDPA, then 4G can be used to relieve congestion and for higher speeds.
Just because it's 4G doesn't always make it faster than a good DC-HSDPA connection although I understand the network want VoLTE rather than dropping from 4 to 3g to make a call and then back again! |
