Any apps that can give milliamps of source phone is connected to when charging?

I was wondering if there are any apps that accurately give the number of milliamps of the charge that's being given to the phone when its charging.

I have tried a couple and they don't seem to work (ie one kept saying that there was a 1,200ma charger connected even though I tried on several decent chargers with down to a decent 30cm cable).

I have a unrooted Galaxy S5 and wanted to checkout different cables I have bought to see which ones are better.

Is this possible without rooting the phone?

Cheers, Mark.

Im not sure what exisits on the app front, compatibility may depend on the hardware and there's a good chance you will require root.

You could opt for a hardware solution, USB output meters that measure voltage/amperage exist http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...me%2Ccomputers

Galaxy Charging Current Lite seems to work for my S4:

If the S5 charges like the S4, 1200mah with the screen on, 1900mah with the screen off and 800mah or below with a USB to a computer.

Cheers I've had a quick look but I think I might have to get a adaptor so I can plug the micro USB end of the charging cable into one.

I've given it a go thanks, but still unsure if it's working with the S5.

I think it goes at the other end, Socket>Meter>USB charging wire>phone

Sorry I've just been thinking about the meter and checking it would measure the voltage on the whole of the circuit and not just the 2 points inside the meter?

I can understand if it was measuring current but don't know how it would do this with voltage as current would be being drawn through the meter, but surely the meter would only measure at 2 points inside itself so thinking it really needs to be at the phone end of everything to measure the voltage, but would not matter with current?

Cheers Mark.
