I fancied a tub of Quality Street to mix with the Roses but they'd none left on Xmas Eve. When I think they had stacks of them in early December.

Yes, when I got the small 187g box, there was only 1 coffee truffle. I got the 729g tub for Xmas and there were only 4. So 1 per 180g is about average it seems. Bugger.

Aha, just the post I was looking for! The tubs of Roses, Quality Street, Celebrations etc appeared back in my local Tesco's on Monday. Down to 690g this year from 729g. last year and 1kg a few years back

The last time I had Roses they tasted awfully cheap, not nice at all I think the hazelnut and caramel one had been removed

Oops, don't know what happened there.

I noticed them this morning at Tesco's and thought oh god Christmas is coming

I bet they're still in a cheap plastic tub.

I stopped eating chocolates when I changed my entire diet a couple of years ago, but I used to eat anything and everything, including Roses/Quality Street/Celebrations, etc.

Did I enjoy them? No, not really. One or two of them tasted okay in moderation, but what tended to happen was once the box was opened I'd eat quite a few in one sitting and they would all taste much of a muchness and sickly-sweet. Then I'd be left feeling quite guilty for being greedy, as well as generally sluggish and with a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste left in my mouth for a couple of hours. Overall, it's safe to say they're not something I miss.

I still occasionally buy them though, as they're useful for when I want a cheap and cheerful token present for someone I don't really care about.
