A question that always pops into my head every Christmas, and has been driving me bonkers for years.

There was an album by an American band in the 70s or early 80s that had a cover painting of St Nicholas in thick Russian winter type robes lying dead in bloody snow with a forest behind and possibly a sledge drawn by a white horse. Traditional type painting not modern art (though it could have been a modern pastiche).
I saw it in a 'cutouts' import shop in the early 80s. Can't remember the name of the band, but I seem to recall it was one word (something mythical - 'Thor' or a Tolkein reference or the like).
From what I remember, the titles and general air of the album was heavy rock.heavy metal, and it wasn't a band I'd heard of, which means they probably weren't released over here.
It's actually the painting I'm after, but the band or album would help.

Any thoughts will be much appreciated.
