Decent supermarket Satay sauce ?
We have just had some home made chicken in Satay sauce with noodles, and I was not impressed.
The sauce was bought in Asda and it was made by Amoy. There was no actual sauce ! Well, not on my plate ! Are there any decent - supermarket - Satay saces about ? I can't be bothered making my own, so there's no point suggesting that I do !

I like the Amoy one, but I use two packs as like you say there isn't much in them.

When I've done it I just stir fried chicken and sliced veg in curry powder and then stirred through some peanut butter for the last minute........

As an alternative use some chinese curry sauce/powder and add peanut butter.

If you're going down the road of adding peanut butter to things, you might as well go the whole hog and make one. The Hairy Bikers have got an easy peasy one in their curry recipe book.
Put all these things in a small pan and heat through gently while stirring: Big spoon of crunchy peanut butter, sachet of coconut milk, dollop of chilli sauce and a couple of splashes of soy sauce and of lime juice. |

Crunchy peanut butter. Dried chilli flakes. Grated fresh ginger. Squeeze of a lime. Garlic (if you like. I dont). Coconut milk and/or water. Dark soy. Heat in a pan altogether, tasting until you get the heat/seasoning/consistency you like. Lushbuckets.

Have never ever found a decent British satay sauce. You'll need to buy online from the Netherlands or make it yourself.

There was a new show on Food Network called The Big Eat and they had a satay dipping sauce.
http://www.foodnetwork.co.uk/recipes...with-rice.html That recipe is simplified to what they had in the show. In the show they marinated the chicken (and pork) before grilling. The satay sauce was pretty much similar though, although I don't recall him cooking it. He had crunchy peanut butter, added Sriracha hot sauce and thinned it out with a bit of milk or cocunut milk. That was it. |

Will maybe try this - for an Elvis-style treat, do what the Dutch do and dip your chips into it.
