I wonder if any of you guys can help me with this as Vodafone themselves don't seem to know how to cure it. One of my friends has been having phone problems for the last few months which boils down to the fact that sometimes people can't get hold of her. Half of the time (it's very sporadic) anyone who tries to ring her gets a little bleep and it goes straight to answer phone.

The nice people in the Vodafone shop advised her to buy a different phone as it's quite old and also update her SIM card as it's around 15 years old. All this was carried out over the last two days and it was working fine last night but this morning the problem has reoccurred.

The odd thing is that if she contacts you either by ringing or texting it allows you to then contact her as if the phone needs waking up before you can use it?

The only concluding thing I could finally give her was to change network but it can't be a lack of signal as she gets full bars.

So, does she have a new phone and/or SIM card now? Your post isn't clear.

A new SIM card is a good idea if it's that old. A Vodafone shop should be able to sort that for you.

This is one of the reasons I left VF several years ago.

They at first said it was a phone issue. Swapped phone
They then said it was a SIM issue. Swapped SIM
They they said it was a mast issue. I work all over the country - happened everywhere

Phone would be sitting with full signal and get missed calls/voicemails.

I swapped networks. Problem solved (with the same phone initially)

Sorry if I wasn't clear but yes both a new phone and SIM card was bought in the shop. It took some time to convert her number and contacts across so it sparked back into life late last night. As I said though despite these changes the problems persist.

Has the number always been with Vodafone, or has it moved from another network in the past?

If the problem persists with a new phone and SIM then the fault must be with the way the network handles call to the number.

Apart from swapping network, I'm not sure what you can do.

Yeah always been Vodafone. She doesn't want to change because of the Freebie plans they offer on pay as you go but I'm sure other networks can offer something similar.
