have this tv for past three weeks and very happy with it. Only discovered recently that there is no headphone socket and wondering why Samsung omitted this. Is it I wonder to get the customer to purchase Bluetooth headphones. Anyone got any ideas on why.

Both LG and Samsung seem to have dropped headphone sockets, along for analogue audio outputs - presumably a cost cutting exercise?.

If it has a Scart output could a Scart/phono adapter be used to get L and right analogue audio?

That might work, though it could be very limited in what it offers.

On my telly the SCART output only works when watching the built in Freeview. If you want to watch a DVD/Blu-Ray or PVR recording, Sky, Virgin etc etc you get total silence.

Only the optical out has audio from whatever source you are watching on the TV. So if you want to use that you need an optical digital to analogue converter, eg one of these
