2 years back we took out our first contract phones on O2.
Currently 16.99/month each. Got S3 mini which was current at time.200 mins, ul texts and 500mb data. This is ideal as use about 400mb though prob only about 30 mins talk.

The current version of that is s5 mini but cheapest I can see is 22.50 on voda but only has 100mb data. Looks about 28 quid on voda or o2 to have my 500mb data.

Anyone seen anything better to suit my needs ? Or tips to get anything better out of o2. Since they started that refresh they havent looked as good.
I am looking myself, not just trying to get you all to do everything for me.

Thanks

Edit I might add that samsung alpha seems much same price as s5 mini. Its just with getting 2 phones a 56 quid contract is too much....but maybe im expecting too much. The other one I kind of looked at was htc one mini 2

The Motorola 4G is only £16 per month on Three
300 mins
500 mb data
unlimited text
And a good phone as well, much better than the S3 mini

Tesco Special offer for the Motorola 4G is only £16 per month
1000 mins
1GB data
5000 text

You can compare the 2. There are only minor differences, I would go for the Motorola.

Thought about PAYG?

Three's 321 is the best:
3p a minute,
2p a text
1p a MB

You said you use 30 minutes talk = £1 per month
400MB = £4 per month
How many texts do you use? Estimated 200 texts = £4

That's £9 per month

So compared to your current cost - £17 per month, it leaves £8 per month for a phone

£8 x 24 months (assuming your contract is 24 months) = £192 to buy a phone for 2 years. I assume you have this money in your bank.

Can get the S4 mini for £125 from Vodafone, and it comes unlocked. So you would save yourself £67 over the next 24 months compared to your last contract. So it would effectively cost you around £14.20 per month overall. This includes estimated monthly texts of 200. If you only actually use around 50, then the cost works out at £11.20 per month! S4 mini is a good phone.

Or you could spend £200 and get something a bit better

Tesco's look very cheap charging such a low amount for data and minutes plus the handset i.e. the very same model as 3.

No much data on either 3 or Tesco offer for either of them to be an attractive offer for me personally. And 1000 minutes worth of calls with Tesco is far too many for me.

A good thing with 3's is it will be unlocked so you can use a 3 PAYG sim once the 500mb of data has run out.

For 3 PAYG just buy the all in one 15 that includes AYCE data, 300 minutes and 3000 texts.

If you make 500 minutes worth of calls each month it would only cost £21 for the 3 sim each month.

But the OP doesn't use that much data/calls, I think they would save a lot of money going to PAYG

The 1st edition MOTO G has a 16gb version but it was not 4g enabled. For future proofing you really need the 2nd generation 4g model, it is only 8gb but allows an expansion sd card

Tesco currently have the Moto G 4G for £13.50 with 500mins 5000sms and 500mb data.

It is only 8 gig onboard but has a micro sd card slot so you can add 32gb for around £10.

Don't think you'll get much better than that.

You can go up a tariff for £2.50 more which adds another 500mind and 500mb data. Plus contracts can be capped so no possibility of shock bills.

Yeah I am interested in it. Seems a good price. My only niggle is the 8gb. This is what I have just now and constantly have to juggle with deleting apps. In my experience not many will move to the external sd card in my s3 mini. My music, pics, videos and sat nav live there.
I'll be having a look at it though. Contract not officially up til 18th.

Trouble is in the real world you're not going to notice, i have a Nexus 5 and my kids have a 2014 Moto G and i'd be more than happy with the Moto G. The difference in everyday use is negligible.

Movies and pics can go directly to the SD card. I had around 5 gif free with all apps installed (around 60 apps) and all music, pictures on the SD card. I found around half of the installed apps were able to be moved to the SD card.

I ended up getting s5 mini on O2 at 20/month 500,UL,500mb + 500 o2 to O2. Nothing upfront.

In shop price is 23 but phoned retentions for 3 quid loyalty discount.

Incidentally could have for 18 quid at cp warehouse with 30 upfront. Marginally cheaper I guess over the contract but would have a little phoning around reclaiming number and swapping contracts.

The 8mb was my issue with the moto.
