EE - Who do you think were the best northerners on the show?
IMHO there was four particularly effective northern characters. Joe and Lorraine Wicks were fantastic. I loved Lorraine's 90s curls and the way she said Joe's name
They handled the schizophrenia plot quite well with Joe. Another one was Lorna Cartwright (played by Janet Dibley) who wasn't there for too long but was a significant part of Phil's life during his alcoholism and split from Kathy. It's a shame she didn't stick around longer. And of course the one time Mrs Mitchell, Kate Morton. I was in love with Jill Halfpenny at the time. Just adored that character. After Kate left I can't think of any decent northern characters in EE. Bert Atkinson (Jay's grandad) was presented as a walking Yorkshire stereotype. Jase wasn't around long enough and Jake Stone more recently was a complete flop. Any others? |

What about Jase himself?
Will Mellor's character was definitely northern but I'm not sure how successful he was. Jimi Mistry too, he was raised the north / midlands but I'm not sure where Dr Fonseca was supposed to be from? I'd have thought being northern stops at Hadrian's Wall, whereupon being Scottish begins - so I'd count Trevor out. ETA: just googled it and found that WM was only in a couple of episodes... |

Bert, Jase's dad. Was Mags from Yorkshire with Eastern European parents or straight Eastern European I can't remember. She was one of my first soap crushes.
Edit - Polish dad, Yorkshire Mum |

Joe and Lorraine Wicks . Loved both characters .It was missed opportunity by Eastenders when they had Michael French on the show that David didn't visit Bolton .
I also wanted Grant to end up with Lorraine who was much better match for him than Tiffany ever was . But I guess Tiffany and Grant's volitile relationship provided them with more drama . |

Joe Wicks and Trevor Morgan (since Scotland is in the north of the UK, and England wasn't specified).
